Thanks Larry for putting on a great drive.

Kudos to Terry, our own Macgyver, a nail this trip and a fan belt washer made from a beer can on a previous tour.

Always great to reconnect with everyone and meet a few new P car enthusiasts.

Yep...the amazing thing was the brakes seemed fine, no noise (not even the squeelers at any time leading up to this) until the hotel, and no pulsing or pulling. I guess the theory would be that the piston on the other side (that looked perfectly normal, with half wear) seized in the off position, and all braking action was done by other side...that is, until the piston almost fell out of the bore and sat on a slight angle making constant contact with the disc. The tequila is an essential part of any tool kit. What if you broke down in a remote area without pizza and beer? Cheers

It was a great drive.

Thanks LARRY for organizing it.

I am looking forward to many more drives with the CanAm group.

Had to miss this year, but looking forward to the next one - I'll even be a couple hundred miles closer, as well. Looks like everyone had a good time, and had a decent turn out, too.

I was wondering what ultimately became of your brakes! I'm glad you were able to make it home safely! I'm impressed by the "fix" too! I would never have thought of using a nail as a temporary fix!

Here's a video from my Gopro from one of my favorite highways, chasing down Paul and Hans. Too bad we weren't able to do it again downwards because of you know who.

Great video Jason, it's funny while driving it I really didn't have time to actually see much of the surroundings LOL. One of those great roads that will stay with you. Hans must've been in a big hurry to see the view. Cheers

Great to see the video Jason; nice to see my car "featured". If I'd known you were filming I wouldn't have waved you by!

Another observation... the drive "in person" seems longer than the video, but the speed in person seems much faster than in the video! I know those two statements are the opposite of one another, but that's how it seems.

Love doing this drive. In my car it's pretty much full throttle all the way...in 3rd, down into 2nd for corners.

You were WOT in 2nd and 3rd? Really? Interesting to note that since I wasn't WOT most of the time so we can see the power deficiencies between the two cars. The times you pulled away from me probably was when you were WOT and I had a little bit of catching up to do. I left mine in 3rd gear the whole way up.

Hah...by letting me pass, you allowed me to see how much Hans was taking over the roads! It's fortunate that he wasn't in the other lane when those Porsches came zipping downhill!

Yes, Jason, downshifts to 2nd on those corners are pretty much necessary in my car...if I left it in 3rd there's not enough pulling power coming out. And after running it up to around 6500 rpm in 2nd, it's then mostly full throttle in 3rd til the next curve...then back down to 2nd. The wider curves I was doing in 3rd I guess. Your turbo gives you a much broader torque band than my 2.7. With my car there's lots of rowing on a run like that to keep the revs up and stay in the torque band. It's all part of the fun of driving a lesser-powered car fast!

The car I learned to drive on was a 36 hp VW Beetle, so I learned early how to have fun with less hp!
