Door fit near front fender
Back in ‘84 we bought this 911 from the dealer in Dallas. Back when no requirements to divulge accidents.
Anyway the inside of the door was struck. It closes and works well and fits good except the door sticks out some as evidenced by the photo. So it’s a cosmetic issue only. However as a numbers matching 911SC I’m considering painting it. I’m reluctant to go for the “all out” paint job unless the door alignment can be made closer to original. Anyone know if such a thing is possible/practical? Maybe I go the less expensive paint route if door can’t be fixed.

it's common to have the leading edge of the doors on a 911 bend out when the door check breaks.
what happens then is the door stop when opening all the way on the inside of the very front part of the door and in no time at all the leading edge of the door starts to push it's self out. it's easy to find out of the door is bowed out by laying a long straight edge across the door. if there is a space between the straight edge and the door it's a bowed door. they can be fixed. the fender down the door gap in many cases can be moved out to make the panels match up. some times you may have to long gate the holes a bit to get the fender to move out a little more . in short what your looking at can be repaired and made to line up. |
