What do you still need for the engine? I kind of agree with everyone else here, you would kick yourself later if you didn't see this through to fruition. After just finishing an engine rebuild that took waaay too long, I know it can be frustrating.

I agree. The engine is easier than all that body work you've already done.

Wow! After few nights, went thru this thread. Can not even imagine how many hours you have already put into your project. Details and total efforts put into your 911 is simply amazing.
I hope for your sake, you keep your 911 and finish this AMAZING build. I have been wining to my wife about my shoulder/elbow in pain ( been cleaning under side of my 911 ). After reading your thread, I think I need to man up and not wine so much.
I hope you don't sell your 911, if you do. Man, some lucky guy is going to get GREAT car.

It's not a matter of motivation or time it's the ol' cashflow dilemma! I suppose I can sit on it for a couple more or even three more years. It costs me nothing to do that. I don't need the money either but I do need money to finish it. THAT's the dilemma!

Hi all,
First I'd like to thank everyone who has followed my thread as well as contributed to the build either with advise or supplying good used parts at a reasonable price. This community is truly in a class of it's own.

I've decided to update this thread (and long overdue) to inform you the car has been sold. I've received several messages the past few months which have all included very gracious compliments. I'll admit the sale was not an easy decision to make. The new owner is not far from me and has agreed to let me drive it when he's got it finished. We continue to stay in contact while he is building the engine.

Okay, enough of that... For a long time now, many years in fact, I've wanted to get back involved with motorsports in some way. At first I had planned to purchase a Cayman S to get that box checked. Long story short, my family talked me out of it and I'm glad they did! So... instead I bought a used Shifter Kart! It's an older Tony Kart Extreme chassis powered by a massaged (modded) Honda CR125 engine. It has been not only immensely fun to drive but checks my "need for speed" box in every way possible. These machines are brutally fast and can corner like no road going car will ever dream of. If you haven't had the chance to drive one, I suggest you add it to your list! I promise, you won't be disappointed!!!

So me being me, I couldn't just leave well enough alone so I have stripped it down to the frame and have changed it's color via powder coat process and am in the midst of re-assembly with a few added changes. (We'll call them upgrades)
For fun, I'll post some before and after photos here when I'm finished. If you're interested, stay tuned...

After what, 7 years or so?
I still don’t own a classic Porsche but I do have 3 modern ones in my garage. How time changes things right?
Do I regret selling this car? At times… yes!
At the time, it was the right thing to do for personal reasons. I didn’t lose my arse on the sale, okay unless you look at todays values for these old and getting rarer cars. Hence the occasional regret.

I now have a 2014 Cayman S, 2016 Macan S and a 2016 Cayenne S.
It’s interesting how time changes things and I do wish I had that 911 in my stable but hey, we do what we do, right?
