1985 Porsche 911 3.2 gears issue

Hiya,

Hope someone can help

i have a 1985 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera and the car is currently stuck in reverse it is a 5 speed manual transmission the car is not shifting out of reverse it is stuck any help would be appreciated
i am a newbie Porsche owner by the way so go easy on me

Remove the backup light switch on the end of the trans and force the activating pin inward to pop it out of reverse.
Usually caused by a detent in the wrong position last time the trans was apart.

FWIW, I had something crazy like this happen once on my car. Ended up being the collar that tightens onto the splines of the shift coupler had come loos and the shift rod was sliding on the coupler.
