We have a pretty active club, considering the small size of our city and lack of population in the surrounding area. 30-35 cars to most events. We struggle to find parking lots that are large enough to run good courses but have a few events each year where we can get a bit of speed. One at an abandoned airport in the middle of nowhere:

So you push the pins into the holes and then press down on the plunger.

This allows you to take the decklid off quickly and easily any time you want.
That is a great idea. Maybe it’s already be done? Could do button fasteners like this on that carbon fiber deck lid. I’d love to see someone fabricate this.

I run those on a lotus 7 nose. Getting them lined up is a PIA on the lotus because it can move in every direction. The decklid would be alot easier as there is only one direction for movement. Very strong when latched. Another option is good old hood pins.

Nice video. Were forced to use a stop box. DNR if you dont manage it. Available lots are an issue everywhere. We had one that was so rough cars were breaking. I ran a tightly sprung NC Miata the last few years, before getting the 911 and thought my teeth were coming out. Reason I asked is that Ive been to TBay several times over the years and never considered it as having a competitive car scene. Taking weight off the butt is your best plan for now. Lessening the effects of inertia in a corner is always good. I ran corvairs for years and they have half the suspension of a 911 and it was very tail happy. Sway bars and suspension could only defy the laws of physics for so long.

You have to consider will f/glass or c/f lids : they will also let you get rid of /reduce the hinges and the hood shocks etc., so its not just the steel deck-lids that you should put on the scales to compare weight savings. Anyway, it's an easily reversible mod and you can hang the lids in the garage.
I plan to go f/glass front and rear at some point.
Q: W/ Auto-x won't it bump you into a different class, though? The non-stock class..

Maybe 2022?

I like the idea as it makes doing plugs and really anything on the motor easier and is a little like W124 hoods. You can open them so they are vertical, it is amazing how much easier it is to work in the engine bay with no hood whatsoever. So combining a little weight savings with ease of work in the bay makes sense getting them done. Just no time this year I think.

Buy QuickLatches if you're looking for a super light and svelte latching mechanism.

It may not where he is. With only 35 cars at an event, the rules are likely a little lax. Im sure hes the only rear engine 3l

Yeah, we have groups A, B, C, D. You are classed in a group based on your stock vehicle based on SCCA stock classes (more than one class in a group) and you'll get bumped up a group based on modifications. Mods are assigned points, including tire treadwear.

My car in stock form on high treadwear tires would actually fit in B, but I have enough mods and also ST legal tires (200TW) to bump me to "A". Which then basically becomes unlimited.

I'm often fighting for fastest time of day with a Lotus Elise on Hoosier A7's...... maybe one time out of three I beat him.

The other cars in class are usually WRX Sti's, mustangs, M3's, Focus RS. New stuff. Usually lots of noise but not a lot of speed

Hi Guys

I make the ones Carpoint sell ,you can see more on my instgram #early911parts
MORE pics will follow soon, as we are restoring a car using them and more

Note they are G model deck lids internals , for F model / Backdate you have to make the licens plate light cut out your self

the weight is true :-)

we are just finishing the F model front bonnet and roff skin , and duck tail , a small set back due to Corona , but in spring it all shoud be ready ''

we want to keep all fair priced no need for it to cost 5000 usd

if sales are good , we are thinking of making full doors , and etc etc etc :-)
tooling and the process is a bit more expensive

Marek

That's great! I'm sure you'll sell lots of F model hoods - the stock steel ones are quite heavy!!!!!

I imagine, as well, that shipping a hood from Europe to Canada or US would be easier than shipping a steel or aluminum one, in that it would less likely to be damaged in transit - cf is light and strong and bounces back!!!
