911 mirror wire end connector

I want to change the exterior mirror base gaskets.

Is there a break in the wires inside the doors or do I have to unplug the connector ends (PICTURED) from "somewhere" inside the body, beyond the door jams and feed it back out through the door and out?

You have to determinate the wires. There are terminal kits that will help.

Edit: Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-57750-Wire-Terminal-Tool/dp/B007WQQHA2/ref=asc_df_B007WQQHA2/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=241896598945&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12302932518055892549&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016798&hvtargid=pla-350389673975&psc=1

Hi David,
Not sure what you are showing me..please read my post again...want to know if I have to feed the wire with the connector end back out of the door or there is a break in the wires where I can simply just disconnect rather than feeding a lot of wire out.
thanks

You have to take the wires out of the connector to remove the wires from inside the mirror.
Then you can install a new gasket.
The wiring in the door doesn’t come out.

You can remove the wires from the terminal. Another recent thread shows the tool.

Google Lisle terminal tool kit.
Not sure where you are, so don’t know what stores you have available, but lots show up.
It will be one of the round hollow pieces that are the tightest fit as you slide it over the terminal and push the terminal out.
Be sure to mark each terminal and wire to go back together right.
You will have to carefully get the locking tabs lifted to engage again when done. So they will go back in their holes and stay.
I use an exacto blade for that.

im in NJ

would it be easier to unscrew at the mirror and remove the wiring from the inside rather than disconnecting the connector and feeding the wire in and out. looked at it..seems tight.

Cut or NOT to cut??

Obviously I can NOT simply disconnect to separate the mirror base from the car..looks like my only 2 options are disconnect from inside the body and feed wires out then back in (nightmare-ish!) OR cut and reconnect at the mirror. any thoughts?

That white plug is two-piece. You can pull it out a bit and disconnect the wires from the plug on the body side.

Use the terminal kit I posted above.

Edit: The terminal kit goes in the holes on the plug to depress the tabs on the wires, then you pull out the wires.

Double-edit: You cannot do this without a terminal kit like the one linked.

You will know that if you cut any wires, you did it wrong :-)

Take many pictures of the wire locations before you disassemble.
Note the orientation of the “v” in the plug, and I
Would use a black marker line with the “v” to help picture orientation of
Those pesky wires!

Did you look here?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1022018-flag-mirror-wires-tool-help.html

If yours are like mine, it takes a twist with a small needle nose to unlock the wires. I took off my mirrors for painting. Like for you, the tool did not work for me. Likely depends on the year of your car though. Another tool is mentioned in the link.
