Ogherwise very interesting. Can't wait to see it running.
You are so right, I drove a 73 911S from Charleston to Jacksonville, also picked up a complete Carerra wing and lid. Needless to say, it wouldn't fit in the 911, so I swapped it onto the 73 911S and put the 73 lid in the car. Well, that was a white knuckle drive, made worse by a rusted out front suspension pan . At one point I had to hit the brakes and the front suspension "shifted" creating a major OH S**t moment.
Fun times.
Keep the updates coming on the barn find.

Just read it all.
Nice find.
I applaude the tinkering, though you should have someone come over who's 911-knowledgeable and have him look over it.
As you are totally new to it you may do more bad than good to it and make unknowingly poor decisions on how-to (even by reading through the forums content).

From what I've learned: such types of cars - these long sitting barn finds- can hardly be a successful rolling-restoration.

As others have said: stop and make a plan with someone.
- check the brakes, calipers, pistons, fluid !!
- chassi bushings, shock, tie rods (most probably absolutely dead)
- engine, drop it, pill the transmission, check seals and clutch
- fuel, lines/hoses, pump

when these 4 are done for safety and performance reasons, then you can start cleaning and buy stickers and stuff.

if you just get the engine running you will drive on an unsafe basisi and it will crumble even more or you might hurt someone/yourself

Tony
I had a few puffs of life (smoke) last night.

The battery was fully charged and on a charger. I bought a new battery when I picked up the car, so that's good.

I will need to confirm that fuel is getting to the injectors. I believe I can remove one and perhaps stick it in a small jar?

Smoke test, no. I am going to build a smoke machine this weekend. I found some good tutorials that show how to make one. I don't think I need a fancy professional grade machine to see if the airbox or other parts are leaking. Take the peanut off and put a glove over the TB

I have not checked anything on the cold start valve. I will search here for a thread here on how to verify.

My goal is to get it running, not necessarily driving. If I could roll it to the end of the driveway and back, I'd say that's a massive win. After that, it's full suspension parts, tires, brakes, etc. I'm not putting myself or someone at risk
