Was this not a ROW car to begin with? If not, the owner not only updated the motor to Euro spec, but also added the fender markers.

The car checked out well, had a few good updates done in its life and was even one of my favorite colors, Petrol Blue. The car had 118k miles, is mostly original, no accident damage and a fair amount of documentation (but not for its entire life), including the original owners book, the original removed exhaust system, tool-kit, etc. The second owner rebuilt the motor to Euro (ROW) 9.5:1 compression and updated 964 cams. Other updates include turbo tie rods (with bump steer kit), stainless steel brake lines, SSI headers and exhaust, light flywheel, MSD ignition / with rev limiter, and updated the trombone oil cooler. Over-all a great car to drive. I'll post more photos and share some of the work I've already done to get her better sorted shortly.

And I'm going to have LOTS of questions too!

Congratulations for finding the car you like including the petrol blue. What do you mean by “updated trombone cooler”? A Carrera 3.2 cooler added? Thanks.

Tony

Minerva Blue '78 Targa owner - love my car and you made a nice choice there. I note the fender mounted side indicators on your car - this is not a Euro-spec car? (Or, someone correct me about U.S. spec cars).

Joe this appears to be a fantastic car. Post a few more pic's when you get time.

While I waited for the car, I wondered the same thing. It did not have the metal plate in the luggage compartment, which I know ROW cars typically have, but I quickly confirmed via a receipt in the documents that the PO purchased and installed them.

He must have loved the idea of a ROW car, because he even sourced the blue case BDW air compressor, whcih from my research was only supplied in ROW cars.

I even managed to save the instructions for the air compressor too. The pages were glued together somehow. I spend about 2 hours slowly seperating them with a long thin razor.

The car is also ROW ride height, which I forgot to mention. So yeah, next best thing to getting a ROW car IMO. It's honestly one of the more exciting aspects of getting an old car. Doing the research and trying to fill in the gaps on 46 years of history.
