414hp and 378ftlbs from my 2.7 turbo setup - At the wheels.

I'm back!

You may have seen my post on this 2 years ago! I've done a lot more development with my ITB and water to air intercooler kits. I've also recently acquired my own dynapack!

(still) (AFAIK) stock internal '77 911 2.7 engine.

Engine code says NON-S engine (150 hp stock?)

Setup:

MoTec m150 - Modified USA Sports Car firmware on my development ECU
VAG R8 redtop coil on plug - these coils work better than the shorter blacktop coils!
Electronic ITBs with water to air intercoolers (I make sell these see here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/374015064717 https://www.ebay.com/itm/373963592035 or PM me for more info)
ID1300X injectors
BorgWarner EFR 7670 Twin scroll IWG
Dual knock sensors
Dual wideband lambda pre turbo
997 style E-Pedal (I make / sell these too) https://www.ebay.com/itm/373711396082
(switched to tilton pedal box with E- Pedal, dual brake masters, hydraulic clutch)
996 NA 6 speed gearbox with my own adapter kit (yes this is for sale PM if interested)
WAVETRAC diff (I am a dealer!)
My own MoTec Hall sensor for cam (available to buy) and crank position sensor
Full custom engine harness, tefzel wire etc (I made)
AEM e85 fuel pump
AEM fuel pressure regulator
All new fuel lines etc for ethanol

Cheap headers modified for v-bands, with a connection y-pipe to the turbo (going to remake this in the future with fully custom headers and larger diameter pipes etc)

Simple Titanium 3" exhaust with resonator can, custom mount made from some extra laser cut stainless I made work - Not that loud at all! (my first time welding Ti) - please don't hate my welds too much D:

Car is full flex fuel with MoTec. Can run any mixture of normal gas up to 100% ethanol. Usually runs e85 as did on this dyno.

1.2-1.3 bar boost (17-19 psi)

Dyno work all done on (my very own!) Dynapack hub dyno

This car feels extremely faster, and I build fast Porsches for a living! (mostly 800hp+ 959s)

It FLYS

It has great lowend and spools nice and fast on the street. Spins the 315 width rear tires all the way through second gear at 60mph.

Driveability is fantastic.

Makes about 300whp on 91 octane gas at 0.8 bar and less timing. I almost never use pump however since E85 isn't hard to get here and cheap.

Something like 470hp at the crankshaft. I've been driving it HARD for (Many) 1000s of miles now with no signs of internal problems, but I assume it's (probably past) the limit for a little mag block 2.7 - how long will it hold together?! I have a 930 case I'm building for this now

Here are some pics from today and last few months:

This thing is super fun to drive!

Next big experiment - probably going to switch to an upgraded 718 VGT turbo. MoTec can easily control the turbo vane actuator. The car doesn't feel very laggy but it can always be better!

I'm super excited that Porsche made a pretty large VGT turbo for gas engines. The upgraded units seem able to flow around 650+ hp with basically no lag at all! Amazing. Gathering parts for that now

Feel free to ask and criticize away!

That's very impressive especially on a 'stock' 2.7 internal engine!

Very impressive numbers! Shows the importance of good intake, good cooling, and good exhaust (incl. turbo) to good hp numbers on a turbo motor.

This is just awesome. I’m starting a 3.2 Turbo build HERE with a water to air intercooler…but I’m shooting for far less hp!

That is very nice of you, thanks! Will be doing a 3.4 930/68 conversion with Carrera intake, cams (prob SC), prob 8:1, Garrett or BW, twin plug, etc. I have a set of 3.2 heads sitting around but I think I will stick with the RR350 heads, haven't decided yet. This should allow me to get it running to get to the tuner. Being twin plug I can pull some timing. What a dream job working for Canepa.

Most important is good knock sensor setup! The Bosch wide frequency response sensors are great, and MoTec has the best strategy I've used with any ECU. Find the threshold and put a good margin of safety.

If you are interested I can make you a great package price deal on MoTec hardware and / or my water to air ITB kit. The performance is amazing. Water to air is really the only way to go for rear and mid engine cars. No air to air engine mounted cooler comes even close!

Twin plugs heads - really not a huge benefit with todays coil on plug power available. That is unless you are running E98, methanol or huge (2 bar+) boost. I've played around with these quite a bit, even trying slight delays and restrikes between the two plugs. It's all about the same when you have COP power.

On a distributor car it's great, but why would you keep that?

The current EFR turbos beat the Garretts everywhere but physical size. The twin scroll 7670 is an amazing street turbo for 2.5-3.5l engines. Will spool very fast on a 3.4.

That or I'd run twin 6758 or 7163 (the 7163 can now be had with a iron CHRA that doesn't need water cooling!)

I ran twin 6258s on a 3.6 993 with my WTA ITB setup and it spooled basically immediately. Almost too fast!

Love it! I see a lot of possible idea’s for Turbo Targa 2.0. Currently a 1bar setup with a GT30r and a CAN EMS setup that works, but definitely could use some more modern tuning capability.

Amazing power. Wanted to ask what you did for fuel lines from the tank to engine generally. Did you use stock lines such as in tunnel or something aftermarket? I’m sure your engine needs a good amount of fuel.

Stock '75 fuel tank

8an feed from tank and 6an return. These actually fit very well where the stock lines are.

External AEM 400lph e85 fuel pump

ID1300x injectors

4 bar base fuel pressure. I hit about 50% duty cycle with this setup and e85 fuel.

Amazing!

Where did you mount the radiator for the water-air intercooler? Approx what size is the radiator?

I have it mounted in the left front fender area, core is about 9x11" with 3d modeled ducting (critical for efficiency)

1 gallon reservoir up front.

System pumps directly from tank through radiator / heat exchanger, then through the two intercoolers and back around. Single CWA100 variable speed brushless pump, MoTec controlled.

Need to add a cooling coil from the air condition to super cool the water to make it even better, but it's basically impossible on the street to get the water more than a few degrees above ambient air temp. Properly setup WTA coolers are unbeatable.
