"Euro" engine

Hi Guys, new to the forum and looking for some help in a 3.2 engine upgrade for my '83 SC. I'm looking at an engine being sold as and 1987 3.2 Euro. Just trying to confirm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

number is *63G10282*

Thanks in advance for any info.

63G means '86 930/20.

Thanks PeterRT. Forgive my ignorance but what does that mean specifically? Although I've owned a 911 since I was eighteen(more than 20 years) this is my first engine swap so I've not had to educate myself in this area so far. Now if you want to know any thing about replacing the engine in a Hummer H1...or heater core...or cracked rotors...or, well ask me anything.

Sorry. The /20 means it's the catless, high compression, 228 bhp version of the 3.2. So it's indeed a RoW/Euro engine. The #s of cat engines (/21, /25) start with 64... The letter in 3rd position shows the model year. G='86, H='87, J='88, etc.

Does anyone know if engine no. 3380822 is the correct match for a 68 911 coupe USA equipped with a Sporto? What do the numbers denote in this instance?

Yes, the 338xxxx series is 1968 911L sporto equipped.
However 0822 is too high for the series; 3380464 was the highest built AFAIK.
Please check the number, and if possible email the photo to me.
Also check to see the type # and the build #:
Type 901/xx Engine Build #'s

The eight in the 0822 sequence originally appears to have been a three that was altered. I'll post a photo ASAP.

The build # will help me determine the truth.

Sorry about the delay on this, but was on the road (sans car). Will try to produce the build no. when me and my car are reunited. Would you say the second eight appears to have once been a three?

It appears to be a 3 over the 8; the 3 appears clearer in parts. That is not so bad because the fonts of the 3's & 8's appear to be consistent; therefore I suspect a factory typo as opposed to fraud. The build # will help for sure.

wondering if you can help me to find out the spec of my engine:
Engine No: (star) 64H06771 (star)

What I know based on the forum is that is a CAT engine from 1987...

Thanks in advance.

I as well have an Numbers question since I am very new to this..

I looked at the thread to find where to acquire the numbers and this is what I came up with

*6106191*
911/07

I know the engine isn't original to the car as it is currently in a 912

any help would be appreciated
