Another vote for William!!
I've been working with him for 2 years now on my build. I've got a 3.9 liter motor being built and thanks to William I've saved a ton of money and headache. A few other well known aircooled shops wanted to charge me some very high prices on parts which put the build at a standstill. Thanks to William were back on schedule and in the budget. Thank you sir!! |

William recently completed a very difficult rebuild for me on a mildly built 3.6L 964 engine. The case had multiple problems that William was able to resolve and successfully seal up. This ended up being a much longer process than anticipated primarily due to unforeseen problems with parts that I provided for him and wait times on work being done on others. His experience and help on the phone explaining things to me and walking me through the different decisions I had to make was invaluable. I can't praise him enough for his help though this process. He never once made me feel like he was rushing me off the phone or annoyed by my newbie questions. This entire rebuild process was quite expensive and trust is obviously very important when having someone remote build an engine. William lived up to and exceeded all of the glowing reviews and references that I checked prior to having him do the work. I cant thank him enough. If William does work for you, you can be sure your engine is in great hands! Jon

William lives up to the hype! I have worked with him for the past 7 months on planning an engine build for my 964 backdate project. Just before starting the build, he found me a freshly built motor very similar to what we were going to build that I purchased for less than half of what it would have cost me to build. Many in the Porsche business would have used this situation for their financial advantage. William did not and passed this great deal on to me.
Then I flaked out and decided that I didn’t want to put the new engine in my new backdate, but wanted to buy a track car instead. William was so patient through countless conversations with me and found a buyer for the engine. He has gone above and beyond. He is a man of integrity and I have the utmost respect for him. Thanks William for everything. You’re the best! |

I’m certainly pleased with his knowledge of 930 and 993 turbo engines and gearboxes. And his ability to help source some hard to come by parts. Thanks William.

I just talked with William today for the first time, and he’s a real genius when it comes to maximizing these air cooled engines. He helped me out with a new exhaust system for my 2.8 RSR build and I plan to work with him on another bigger engine project. I was impressed how he works with your particular goals and genuinely tries to help. Thanks William!

Can't thank William enough. Long story as short as I can make it.
I bought a 911 roller last June. While hunting around the usual spots for an engine, one thought that entered my mind was, "it'd be great if someone local had a hot rod motor they weren't using." Around that time William PM'd (I posted a WTB ad here on Pelican) about just that type of engine. William led me to YermanCars, who had the engine and lives about 15 miles from me. A good deal was made. Over the past year I've PM'd both of them with questions about the engine. They've both been incredibly helpful. Today I walked away from the car due to a frustrating electrical gremlin. 20 minutes later, no joke I get a text from William asking me if I got it running. I describe the issue, he makes a suggestion and sure as schit the engine fires right up. Just a few bugs to work out on the car and it's time for some 350ish hp - 2500ish lbs fun.

Agree, one of the good guys I consider him a friend.
I bought my 930 4 speed from him. Very fair price and turned out to look spectacular inside (we didn't know) has sone race gears a LSD. I have no complaints! Last edited by Fixer; 07-21-2020 at 11:38 AM.. |

I was talking with a friend of mine about my engine build and he said "You should call William Knight"
So I did. Out of the blue. It couldn't have been a better conversation. To say I learned a lot is an understatement. William brought to light some build options I hadn't even considered and a few I'd never even heard of. I'm always impressed when someone with a lot of knowledge on a given subject will take the time to explain and educate a newcomer. This is my first air cooled engine build, and I'm trying to tackle much of it myself. To have a resource like William available in our community is awesome. For him to treat me like his #1 client, without ever having met me, says a lot about his character. Thanks William, I look forward to working with you.

When I first saw this thread it was after having posted some questions about a 3 L SC rebuild I have underway and getting an interesting reply from William. I did some more searches and when I saw this "super hero" thing it put my spider man senses a tingling with caution.
After a couple of exchanges by PM and email, I had a long phone conversation with him today. It was very informative and great fun to boot. All of the praise in this thread is deserved from the direct interaction that I had today. That being said, "the proof is in the pudding", and I have not put the M1 cam in my motor yet but I will as my build progresses. I have talked with others that are running the M1 and my expectations are high. I look forward to additional guidance from William and to posting some results of the relatively conservative motor build I am doing once I get it up and running with the M1 cam. His knowledge is vast, he is able to convey complex technical details in an understanding way and his willingness to share that knowledge is reflected in the many testimonials in this thread. Thanks William. |

369 WHP and 290 FT-LBS torque out of a 3.6 build...not a peaky build either...that justifies Superhero status as far as I am concerned.

Had the pleasure of talking to William earlier today about getting the roller barrel ITB’s and a custom cam for my 3.5. Super impressed with his knowledge and how down to earth he was. He also didn’t once try to pressure me into buying something which is exceedingly rare nowadays. It’s either buy now or get lost. If all goes as planned I’ll be a customer of his next year sometime.

I’ll pile in here also because good service ought to be recognized and William’s a word of mouth shop.
William has been incredibly generous with his time and counsel. No doubt he’s at the pointy end of air cooled alchemy and combines that with an honesty and approachability. Results speak for themselves on the former. I can vouch for the latter. No hesitation parking some hard earned with him at the right time. Had I met him earlier, he’d have saved me time, money and I’d have a ripping engine. |
