Shop recomendation - Boise,ID
Hi folks,
I am currently in Boise ID on a business trip and was wondering if someone has recomendations for an independent Porsche garage in the area. I need to buy some parts to make good use of my time here and to be able to continue my engine rebuild this weekend. Thanks, Ingo

Hello,
The shop to go to is Northwest Motorsport on 15th street. I do not know exactly the address, but basically, you need to go south on 15st, you go under the bridge (where the highway/connector is), and it is going to be just there on your right, 500ft after the bridge. If you have any problem, do not hesitate to send me an email, I can help you. wellcome to the great boise of idaho! cyrille |

Yup, go see Red Jones at Motorsports NW.
He's a hoot. Kinda gruff but very experienced.

This rocks, I went to the Nothwest Motorsports today (which btw is on 16th right afer the bridge). I didn't get the guys name but he was in his 50's or so and seemed to be the owner. So it was probably Red. Really nice and intersting to talk to.
I needed a singe BM6x25 stud to continue my 3.6 engine rebuild. He gave it to me for free. Then he showed me his shop, a Turbo motor with crankfire ignition and dual plugged head he is working on and some smashed up parts from a GT2!!! that he had on the lift. Man that carbon brake disk was missing one third of the rotor. What a sight, the owner got a litte overenthusiastic and stuffed it into a curb..... We also discovered we had a mutual friend in Walt Watson form Competition Engineering. Seems like its a small world when it comes to P-cars. Thanks for that recomendation, Ingo

Hello!
not a problem, sorry for messing out the street, hope you did not have any problem finding it... BTW, if you are still in town on saturday, there is a PCA meeting at the Sockeye Restaurant 3019 Cole Road, south east corner of Cole/Ustick intersection. regards, cyrille |

Boise - who would think of looking for Porsche "action" in Boise?
Actually, I picked-up my latest - a silver '87 cab in Boise last spring! I never even thought to try to get a PPI in the Boise area. aw well, my miss and the car has turned out to be an OK buy. Are any of you Boise types familiar with this car? Or are G50 cabs a dime a dozen around those parts? |

Too bad I am leaving Friday noon. I have to get back to my project. But say hi to that gentleman for me. He also mentioned PCA and that there are currently close to 200 members in the area.
cheers, Ingo

I grew up in Boise and the Porsche passion runs deep there. The Bogus Basin Hillclimb is the only Porsche Club sanctioned hillclimb left in the U.S.

Is this the guy who can recognize a 911 crank by sight? The guy who knows has touched a 917 crank?

Motorsports Northwest out of business?
Digging up an old thread as I need to find a shop in the Boise area to do a PPI.
I've called Motorsports Northwest at (208) 345-9444 and it's been disconnected. Anyone know if they are still around and a good contact number? If not, anybody else recommended to do a PPI on a 914? Last edited by outbound; 06-03-2015 at 01:50 PM.. |

I believe those guys were Motorsports Northwest (Red's) customers. I have a shop called "Original Six". It's now a hobby for me. I use to work for Aase Motors in Fullerton Cali. Great guys-(Randy and Jeff). A wonderful place to work and lots of racing history.
