Shifter coupling
A few months ago, there were some brass shifter couplings made by one of our fellow Pelicanheads. For those of you who have purchased them and installed them, what are your opinions?
I am interested in doing the same if the opinions are favorable. I guess the upgrades never stop..... David

I emailed Charlie the other day, he said they should arrive before Christmas. A perfect stocking stuffer.

They are finished and they are probably on the way. The NoVa gang has already installed them. Shifts are "same-but-different" in a good way, w/o notchiness or anything similar. The gear engagement is more positive (for lack of a better description).

Hey guys. The bushings came in last week after a 2 week delay from the machine shop. I'm currently in the process of packaging and will be mailing them out by the end of the week.
Hopefully some NoVA guys will pipe in with some feedback. BTW: For the folks who didn't get a chance to order, Pelican will be stocking these. Happy Holidays

I don't think they are in the Pelican catalog yet. Last time I talked to Eugene, think he mentioned PP was going to sell them for ~$40. Try sending him a PM.

If the're like the ones I had made a few years ago you will be very pleased w/ the precion they bring to the shifter. I would also recommend zero clearance bushes.

Go with the zero slop plastic 914 type bushings...or a full-up true universal joint. No slop metallic bushings is a half-way step and may induce internal trans stress. Do a search.

Charlie installed mine last weekend. But since my old bushing was almost new, I haven't felt too much of a difference. Still, I like having new stuff in my car

I just installed Charlie's brass bushings in my shift coupler a couple days ago. After adjusting the coupler, I noticed a significant difference between these brass bushings and the weltmeister plastic ones. The brass creates less slop and eliminated the grinding I was having. Overall shifting is smoother and you can feel it notch into each gear.
Note, I have the Seine Gate shift kit, and a new ball cup bushing installed. So my results may vary from those with a different setup or a tranny in worse condition than mine.
