Concealed Valentine One In Rear View Mirror
Has anyone tried this concealed Valentine One display "InV1si-Mirror". Supposely it is an OEM Porsche rear view mirror? It looks cool.

It would be great if we could conceal the V-1 -- this only conceals the display. You can do it yourself - you carefully scrape the silver away from the glass... the place that does it is in NJ I think. There was a thread somewhere on this a few years ago - here? Rennlist? Porsche Pete's Boxster Board? not sure where.
Problem with it is that it helpfully lights up so that any trooper following you can easily see it...

This is the best install for the V1 remote display.

I thnk the best would be to remove the seat belt warning lamp and put the display there. To me, the rectangular display clashes with the round dial.
On my Boxster, I put it in the lower corner of the windshield by filing the mounting box down to a wedge shape - put the focal plane near that of the road so my eyes didn't have to shift focus.

I think the best place to have the V1 remote display is high up, between the tach and the speedo, holding onto the underside of the lip of the dash that shades the gauges. I've tried mine in a few different places, and I think it's best if it's right in your line of sight when you're driving. The tach and the mirror mounts are very cool, and look nicely 'finished,' but I think you're going to miss more warnings the farther the display is from where you're normally looking.
It might be even better if it sat on top of the dash, but the sun might wash out the lights -- and even I have my limits when it comes to an ugly and intrusive installation.

"miss more warnings the farther the display is from where you're normally looking."
Usually we want things in our line of sight. However, there is human factors data that show that we will react a bit faster to flashes in our peripheral vision (makes sense as that is where a predator sneaking up on an early hominid is likely to first appear). IIRC, the data are out of Wright-Patterson - USAF behavior performance lab. OTOH, if your reaction is to glance over at the light rather than hit the brake, then rxn time will actually be longer. I agree that would be a good location... and there is an audible warning too.

I mounted the remote display under the dash - two sided tape, or velcro i my case, and I see it between the spokes of the steering wheel. At this point, I know the various alert sounds, so I hit the brakes instinctively at the sounds - K, Ka, and then look. From there, it's a question of knowing the strength and location, which is a less pressing matter. Plus, there's no cutting or disassembly of the dash to mount it - for some reason, although I've told myself that I'll never sell (and this might not even be the reason) I have made sure to only do "unboltable" mods. I'll post a pic later
