I have just got this for my Carrera...
Should arrive tomorrow... I'll give it a go this weekend... If I screw things up (as ususual) the AAA flatbed will come to the rescue.... I went for the silver finish.... Very excited

Looks great, but wouldn´t a 30 % lever travel reduction add up to 30 % faster shifting (nice) and hence a 30 % shorter lifespan of the internals ?
But perhaps the Borg Warner approach can handle it. My 915 would hate me, I guess... Just a thought - not to rain on your parade, mind you.

I have been waiting for this shifter from them for a long time...
This is the 930 one... They are a little different... from Hayden "The WEVO G50 shifter is really two things. A precision shift unit and a short shift kit. Unlike the 915, 930 and 901 units where the WEVO shifter adds spring pressure to the center plane, the G50 unit continues to reply upon the springs inside the transmission. The reduction in throw is approx 30% and the lever position is the same in neutral (fore and aft) as the original. The precision comes from eliminating some of the parts that wear and accumulate lost motion in the O.E. shifter. The WEVO G50 shifter is also much lighter and to some extend this changes the feel of the lever. " I am so looking forward to trying it! |

Yeap - the same issue as with other 'short shift kits'.
For me, its the reduction in travel and the resultant reduction in arm reach from 3rd to 4th and 5th down to another gear - short arms ala T-Rex ;-)

Markus, Your's is the "cup half empty" approach. Our "cup half full" logic maintains that the 30% reduction in travel requires 30% less range of movement in your arm and 30% less speed of travel with your arm to achieve the same result as the O.E. shifter. Correspondingly - you might find you can love your 915 even more if you take this factor into consideration! Regards Hayden |

Hayden,

Hayden just wrote to say that it will work on my G50/50 Turbo 5 speed box.

Optimist: "The glass is half full."
Pessimist: "The glass is half empty. Engineer: "The glass is twice as big and heavy as it needs to be."

But the Wevo glass is smaller and much lighter than the OEM... Is that a good thing?

Hayden -
Can you describe some subjective observations - ie does your G50 shifter feel different - in what way, etc ?

I wonder why it only fits up to '89? Seems like it should fit any G50, even if it is a 964.
