Sun roof will not slide back more than a 1/4 of the way. My guess is that it is off track? Any words of advice, thoughts on what to do??

Had that happen last fall. Seems to be off the track on one side and I was able to push/giggle it back using one hand and the switch. Might not be your case though. I haven't had a need for sunroof this winter here in Colorado but I am planning on opening it up in a few weeks to see if it just got off track or if I need parts from our host. Hope it works out for you.

they really don't get off track. the cables break on one side and it binds from getting pulled on only one side. sometimes the cable pulls out of it's slider block where it bolts to the sunroof panel. they can often be twisted back in and recrimped to save money.

This exact thing happened to me last year. What has likely happened is that one of the cables has pulled away from the sliding mechanism in the guide rail. There's a tech article on this site that takes you through the steps to repair it. You can replace the cables, but I believe you have to adapt newer style cables since the old ones (yours) are no longer made. Or, you can do what I did and use JB Weld - remove the cable and the sliding mechanism, slap some JB Weld on it, reinstall and you are good to go. No problems since then. Not sure how long it will last, but it was the cheapest solution.

I had a problem with my sunroof as well. I found that a little lubrication in the channels solved it.
