New sport seats are in...and other obligatory picutres
I wanted to show you guys these new sport seats that I bought from Jason Cullen and some other obligatory pics that I've been remiss in posting. About four years ago, the car was a sadly neglected example that was literally hours away from being taken to a salvage yard to be parted out. It was purchased on the extreme cheap, and through the efforts of my motorcycle buddy Dan, a long-time Porsche dealer tech, a two year long project began including an engine and trans tear-down and rebuild, as was the fuel system, brakes suspension, etc, etc, etc. ( you know how it blossoms!!!). After this two year period, it was pretty much totally disassembled for a glass-out, quality respray. During the 2 month paint time, wheels were shipped to Al Reed (what a gentleman!!) and I began to acquire interior pieces. After paint, the interior took about a year to straighten out. I'm sincerely appreciative of the search function of this board as provided by our host. I also appreciate many of you who responded to my inquiries, allowing me to keep going in a forward direction with this project. Guys like John Walker who take time out of their busy workday to answer you are simply amazing. One more thing...let me tell you about Jason Cullen. The seats were pretty much the finishing touch that I was looking for. Toward the end of my transaction with him, it became apparent that he undercharged me by misfiguring some of his expenses. After the seats were completed (simply some of the best work I've ever seen) I called him no less than three times offering to square the issue. He refused, telling me basically that a deal's a deal. Besides the goods he offers being first rate stuff, Jason was patient, courteous, thorough, and an EXTREMELY stand-up guy that I would never hesitate to do business with.
Steve

Gorgeous! And I'm not usually a fan of the brown family of paint colors.

Yes, great job. It really turned out terrific. Is the paint color "rosewood"?

Wow! Beautiful, especially the seats. Congratulations on achieving your vision for this car!

Great job, you really have patience and good taste. It really shows in the fantastic restoration and quality touches. The sports seats really make the interior special.

I don't have the info handy, but if you do a search for "rear deck mat", you'll find it, along with his telephone number. I just pulled up an old e-mail from him. His name is Rick and the address is euopeanfloormats@hotmail.com Steve

One more question, please. How are you mounting your fire extinguisher? Thanks.

I went to a boat shop and bought a Coast Guard approved extinguisher bracket. I lined up one of the holes in the bracket to coincide with one of the sheet-metal screws securing the shift coupler mounting plate. I had to drill a small hole in the marine bracket to line it up with the other screw in the shift-coupler cover. There are four screws securing the cover plate....I used the ones toward the front of the car in order to give me enough clearance so the back of the extinguisher would clear the jump-seat bulkhead. I used an awl to punch an extremely small opening in the carpet, lined up the bracket with the holes, and screwed them in, securing the front of the shifter cover plate at the same time. Had to go with two slightly longer screws to allow for the extra thickness of the bracket and the carpet. Steve

That car is scchhwwweeeeet! Never been a fan of the brown, but that is one clean car. Particularly like the front trunk carpet - how much? Tastefully done!
May want to consider lowering it an inch or two, or are you going to enter in the Dakar Rally?
