Roll Bar Hardware and Bolt size question...

Does anybody know the size bolts required (Grade 8.8) for the seatbelt locations in a 84 Carrera?

I have some 7/16 20 thread pitch bolts that are not grade 8.8 they fit and are fully threaded, but not sure what grade they are (grade 5 I assume).

My guess is since I cannot find them anywhere is that there is a metric equivalent to that size that fits the seatbelt locations.

I have found that size but they have a shoulder on them which will not work, I need the fully threaded ones.

Thanks -

I know it's sounds a little odd but I'm pretty sure that the seat belt bolts are not metric. The metric equivalent to 7/16ths works out to 11.113mm.

The old seatbelt bolts have a shoulder on them which will not work, and the head is realy thin - too thin for my liking -

They have REPA written on them and are 8.8 - the threadpitch looks like a 20

7/16 - 20 works fine it is just a matter of finding that bolt in a grade 8.8 with no shoulder...all I could find was a grade 5

Nothing I have found on the internet has that type of bolt configuration so i assume something is up...

Jeff,

If you can't find what you want at the above link, you might consider buying the hardware from a vendor that sells either race harnesses or roll bars. I would wager that some company (e.g. TRE) that markets rolls bars for the 911 could also supply the hardware to install one.

Good luck,
JR

If MMC fails, there is always the "Nutty Company" in CT.

They ship, nice folks.

Sesat belt bolt is indeed 7/16"-20 pitch UNF fine thread....not metric.

Being "non-metric"...you will never find a property class 8.8 or 10.9 or 12.9 strength grade for this size...these are metric designations. Look for Grade 5 or 8.
