Jamie,
The factory recaro sport seats are indeed fairly rare, and very valuable. They were a $90 option in 1972....now they are worth easily $1500-2500/pair depending on condition and vinyl vs. leather material. My 70E had a drivers-side only vinyl sport seat when I bought it. I have seen conflicting info whether that was a factory option, but it may have been considering that the cars were/are highly "customizable". I just recently replaced the stock seats with a set of leather sport seats, and I love 'em. Always felt like I was falling out of the stock early 911 seats, but not these. |

I figured they were pretty rare. I seem to remember a price similar to $90 in 9/71(date of purchase).
They are in decent condition. The pass. seat has no tears or splits. just some discoloration on the outer bolster by the headrest. This is due to that leaking targa top. The drivers side has the same markings and is split there and in the middle of the seat. I will get them recovered next year. Has anyone done this themselves? I have the hog ring pliers and could do it if I could get a pattern. Maybe my mom or Grandmother could rip stiches and sew them. I will probably go for a high quality vinyl since the car is open all the time. I have had it since June and driven it once with the top in(rain). BTW thanks to Tom Sharpes and his website. It was very helpful in motivating me to do the interior myself. Jamie 71 911T targa |
