updated pics

I got a little further with the project. still sorting out what I will do with the clutch, but I am going to just drive it for a while.
Dose anyone know where I could get a black hood crest, sold a couple years ago for a reasonable price, at an e-bay store. This car just cries out for one.

Damn, Don. That is hot!! I love the look and color. You've come a long way. Keep posting pics of the car, interior and engine. Great to see it come along. Congrats. Eventually, I want my car to have the same look. I'm missing the IROC front and rear bumpers right now, but have the ducktail. Keep it up.

great car!

I don't like the front lights... such a project needs euro-spec lights!

(I'm joking)

Yes, a black hood crest would look awesome. Let me know where you pick one up. I might be interested in getting one too. Post pics.

Porsche Crest

Got a quick question for anyone as I do not believe in a coincidence.

I developed a miss at about 2500 rpm, and it is now present all the time (time lapse, 1 day). I had the motor out for a clutch replacement and valve job and to straighten up the wiring from the car to the motor. Ran GREAT for a couple days.

Anything I could have done during the valve job? No other sounds from the motor.

not really a miss, more of a pop, like you are backing off on the gas while in gear, and the motor pops as it is winding down.
Valve too ? Did I forget to tighten something?

Wed. bump.
Can an exhaust leak at the muffler cause this?

Porsche Crest

With Webers & this exhaust you pretty much expect a little popping & banging.

I am wondering about the front oil cooler setup if you have one. The hose over the tranny looks like the larger size of the SC & Carrera 3.2 used along with the later hard lines & hoses for a front oil cooler.

I am about to fit a front cooler on a 70T myself. Any details on this?

Len

Boxter GT,
I did this as a low budget build. I welded a couple "L" brackets on the body to fit a cooler I picked up from someone on this forum. Ran SS braided lines in behind the side body panels while I had them off doing some rust cutting. Picked up the fittings from Mocal. Thermostadt is in the stock location. Ran them through the wheel well and into the front trunk, then out through the front in the right location. Seems to work fine.

All in all it is running great, but developed the popping after the clutch job. Replaced the Webber gaskets on the manifold, did a valve job, clutch, and then popping...It always popped when backing off in the 2-3 K RPM zone.
