I have one of them from new. If someone wants it for a fair value, please PM reply. (I have no idea of the value and ebay is just not my thing). I want a factory stock non-spoiler rear deck lid for an 84-89 Carrera so I'm justifing cleaning out some mid 80's Porschenelia and adding to the parts kitty. The Helmut Bott signed 959 book is sold but I do have some more little things.

I will note that many years ago, I used a silicone adhesive on the backside and attached it to glass for a picture frame. I would have to remove it and I'm not sure if the silicone will come off the back side. Scott

1988 medallion. I remember those rare specials. One of my faves. A beautiful color, especially from a coupes rear 3/4 view and in the sunlight. The special color seats had the supple leather with Porsche script in the headrest. Light colored carpet. Rare as they are, back then they didn't exactly fly out of the dealer showrooms.

Great stuff, it seems the 88 version really existed.
I need it for my collection.

But to be clear, the cars are all 1987 made, they all have VINs from 0060 up to 0600 made in August 87.
They advertised them as modelyear 88, because they started to sell them with a delay in the US.
Interesting stuff.

1988 Medallion

To exhaustintake. Do you still want to sell the 1988 commemorative edition medallion? I have one without the medallion and it would complete my car. I have no idea what it is worth. I have never been on a blog before so I hope I am doing this right. Found the conversation on a Google search.

I bought it and it seems it is a very rare item. I never saw another one. Only the ad shows a picture.

It is a bit smaller than the original 1987 and the company who made the original badges know nothing about the MY88 version. Maybe it is only a rare dealers gift and never made it to the cars.
If you want a 1987, I can sell you one.

It was the only one I had and quite frankly, didn't realize they were that rare.

Reliving the 80's - I sold Porsche's new back then and we were the top volume dealer in the US. As such (and fortunately), I sort of think at the time our PCNA zone manager favored us. We had many of the specials plus allocated a good number of 930's, slant noses, etc. As long as we had an order for a 911, Porsche came thru. Oddly, most of the specials were not popular back then. The common red, black, silver and white cars were the majority of 911's. Funny how I think back as not many 911's were discounted and most sold $500 over list. Today I wonder where some of the unusual built cars are. I rarely see some of the 1980's special optioned, weird color combo's listed nor or even at the Porsche Parade. There were some amazing paint to sample colors too. Cabrio's with stunning blue hues, odd pearl carpet and leather to coupe's with diarhea flat brown with matching interior. Yep, somebody somewhere probably has them.

Thanks for the reply. I will post some pictures soon. It is sweet! Thanks for the heads up on the "ce" blog. I checked it out and will register my car. Still need that medallion. I bought the car from a friend of my Dad. He is almost 90 years old. He bought it new in 1988 and hasn't driven it much in the last 10 years. Paint is all original! Has had seat covers and a bra since new. When I removed the seat covers, the seats look like new. I am having a few odds and ends attended to to get it perfect. I have bought/sold/collected 4 Porsche's in my life but haven't owned one in about 15 years. What was I thinking. I am having a blast with this car.

Here's a picture of the badge
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/356923-anniversary-my-89-a.html

I'm still looking for where my old badge is the cars been in a few of my shops so I can't find where the original badge is. If I'm unable to find it I may be interested in a replica like you.
According to my dad (it's his 911 I'm just fixing it up for him) the badge had a number printed (he may be off) on it but I heard most came blank.

Also, does anyone know the serial number the 89 SA started and ended? I want to figure out what # mine is- just for some fun .

Here is another version of the 89 badge, as seen in the german cars:

I am not sure if the MY88 badges came with the cars, in a lot of cars they were not mounted anyway.

I dont think there is a row of numbers for the 89 SA. They were only limited in the US, but not worldwide.
It was an option package to get a lot of extras for a special price.
They made an unknown number all over the year.

There were 240 coupes made in the light silver color and I believe only 60 coupes in black
I've also heard that they were only made near the end of the year (1988) as I've seen them with Production dates mainly in 12/88-1/89

Go and ask Porsche..the only way to check the VINs.

You are right with the limited numbers in the US, the ROW cars had different colors and there is no known limitation..check the mcodes M97, M98 and M99.

The 87/88 CE are all made in the beginning of the MY, but the 875 VINs are all over the place and not a complete series.

I heard from over 1500 "89 SAs" all over the world, that is why I expect the same (for CEs and SEs).

The other ones are not as nice as the US SAs.

By "SE's", you mean "SA's"? Silver Anniv. Edition, right?
