Porsche Crest Car lift question

Hi,
planning on buying a car lift for my garage. I prefer to buy the two post lift so I can work on my car as well as storage a second car underneath. My question is would it be okay to have the car on top with the suspension hanging all winter long. Also, does it matter what car is on top hanging, suspension wise.

Thanks-Alex

Check out Eagle Equipment. I purchased their 9,000 lb. asymmetric lit and am happy with it. The price was around $1500.00 including shipping. They usually advertise a "deal lift on Ebay, but I found that if you call them direct, they will usually substitute a comparable model at the same price. If headroom is a problem, order the floorplate model.

Also check your local Craigslist. Here in Orlando there currently is a 2 post lift listed for $900.00. I recently picked up a 6,000 lb. scissor lift for $800.00.

Porsche Crest Lift(?)

I'm still a bit it seems as everyone is 50/50 on the idea of letting the car hang on the suspension or not. I'm a bit concern hanging the Targa or the Convertible but not as much with the Coupe after all the reading. Wow! never thought it would be such a problem to storage cars properly.

Thanks again-Alex

Please do not buy a cheaply made lift.......there is a difference. Take a look at Backyard Buddy. I have no affilication with them. Both of my neighbors bought the cheapy lifts.....I refuse to stand under either one.

who's on top ?

always put the coupe on top and Targa or Cab on bottom. As far as suspension, I don't believe that it matters.

Thanks, I definitely don't want anything cheaply made as I am also concern about safety.

I'm going to put the coupe on top. Do you think it matters that the coupe is a slantnose with a 2 post hanging? I think with all my worries I should go with the 4 post lift. I think I will sleep better! Thanks for your help!

May I ask anyone with a Mohawk A7 two post how much they go for? There is no pricing anywhere on the web.

Have you ever taken your car to the dealer and/or a shop that has 4 post lifts ? I've been to lots, and the ONLY 4 post lifts I've seen are muffler shops, well, at least here in Pasadena . How do you do suspension or tyre work with a 4 post ?

I e-mailed them requesting a price. I will get back to you, unless someone else knows.

You don't, I guess I will only use the lift for storage.

Seriously? Please do some research on them....

I have a 4post lift and it's easy. They may come as a package deal or you may have to get them separate but there are bridge jacks between the runners that are used to lift the car off the ramps so you can remove your tires and do suspension work.

I do believe that if you do a lot of work on your car all the 2post or the scissor style would be better. But being that my car uses the lift 99% of the time for storage I think you can't beat the 4poster. I looked at the 2post lift but if you stack your cars often like I do it's a hassle compared to just driving up the ramps.

Good luck on your search! If you are interested in a 4-post lift check out http://www.gregsmithequipment.com That's where I got mine and really like it. No affil, just a happy customer.

Here's a thread where I wrote about mine. Just more to read on here...

Warning Will Robinson, warning! I purchased a Backyard Buddy a couple of years ago. Very high quality lift but their customer service is absolutely awful!! I still get POed when I think about the way I was treated. I paid extra to have one of their installers put the lift in. The lift was not installed correctly (it was making a terrible howling noise) and when I called Backyard Buddy I was told that it was between me and the installer - they would not correct the problem, get the installer to correct the problem, or help in any way! I even spoke to the owner who, other than sending me an owner's manual which did not come with the lift, and promising to call me back to check to see if I had figured the problem out (which he never did), told me I had to take my complaints up with the installer (who they supplied). I wound up having to figure it out myself - I had to level the tracks and grease the pulleys.

In addition, although the web site says "Backyard Buddy Corp. shows your freight charges up front, so there are no 'hidden' costs," don't believe it! They will double bill you for shipping - once from the factory to the shipper and again from the shipper to your home. When I questioned this (only one shipping cost is listed on the bill from Backyard Buddy) I was told that "once the lift leaves the factory the customer owns it and is responsible for anything extra the shipper charges". This wound up costing me an extra $364.25! That's a total of $5,084.25! Way more than the other lifts I considered.

I told the owner that I ordered the more expensive Backyard Buddy because I was expecting Lexus level customer service and was told that once the lift leaves their factory they are no longer involved. That was the owner!! If customer service is important to you, stay far, far away from this company! Maybe this horrible economy has made them more responsive to their customers but I'd be real, real careful. Just a friendly warning.

WCC,
thanks for the info. I like the idea with the bridge jacks so if I do decide to remove a wheel it would not be impossible to do. You are right research!

Thanks-Alex
