Any help?

Two separate fixes for the steering wheel. What year is your car.

For 1965 to 1973, there is the spring and bushing replacement. This thread has interesting discussion: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1043621-early-911-upper-steering-bushing.html

for 1974+ there is the 928 metal sleeve or the alternative bushing.

My car is 1985. Any installation instructions in the forum? Is it required the use grease or other lubricant?

Thanks

I recently installed the Rennline steering wheel bushing and am pleased with the results. I’d add 2 points to the above-posted video. First, before removing the steering wheel, make a mark using chalk or the alike across the steering wheel and column, to show you the proper placement of the steering wheel on the spline upon reinstalling. Second, when tapping in the bushing, I used a pvc fitting from Home Depot and a rubber mallet which evenly distributed the force around the bushing.

The fix/kit is/was all about the new plastic bushing. Did yours not come with the bushing? If memory serves me, I re-used the shim/washer that was already in the assembly between the steering wheel nut and (then pretty much shot) original bushing.

Yes. Exact same process for installation. Zero issues. The part solved the issue 100%.

Hi Steve, do you recall the diameter of the PVC you used? It's my turn to do this.
Thanks!

A short piece of 1" PVC does the trick here...
