Question to people with aftermarket seats in their 911s

Hey all,

so I replaced the driver's seat in my sc targa w/ a sparco milano seat. It is of the design which has the shoulder bolsters.

Anyway, the material that the seat is covered with is beige alcantara. I LOVE this seat.

But there is one problem that has surfaced over time. Apparently the seat belt rubs on the seat and has ended up leaving a black-ish stain on the seat as well as a wear mark from the friction.

Does anyone have a solution in their cars to help prevent this? My seat is made with a steel tube frame. My thought was making a bracket that could act as a routing post For the belt. But I'm worried about safety if I do that.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

Michael

Mine are black so I don't have the problem but I think an idea came to mind.

Uh-huh, I had an idea. take a look at a child seat that has the seat belt "holder" attached. If you could attach something like that with velcro it would be reversible.

If you can, check a junkyard as some cars have these retainer thingys built into the seat.

How about a patch, like professors have on the elbows of their tweed jackets?

The patch idea is a good one. Or, 5/6 point harnesses through the holes.

Maybe a sleeve made of less rough material would be better. That way, you're not piercing holes in the webbing.

Good idea, Sherwood.

You could probably pick up a cover for the seatbelt at the FLAPS near you.

you may have to choose between Tweety and "Git 'er Done" versions but they should work.

I was thinking of knitting a pair.

Maybe trim some stretch or tube socks.... might work. Your choice of colors and patterns too.

don't know your specific seat and the logistics of mounting this to a seat with a potentially higher back but I have seen these used successfully before. if you want more info, shoot me a pm and I'll give you a link to the product.

I've got red Sparco Evo seat in my car. It's rare I use the factory seat belt but for the times I do, I put a piece of red duct tape on the area of the seat that the belt would rub on. Not the prettiest solution but it protects the seat.

A bit off topic, but did the seat get much lower after you installed the seat? What did you use on the base to fit it to the car? The Sparco base and rails?

I used the sparco flat bottom mount that is for a 911 as well as their sliders. I would say that I migh be about 1/2" lower than I used to sit.

I replaced the steering wheel with a momo race as well as the momo spacer that helped bring the wheel closer to me. The combo of the new shape and position of the seat and the steering wheel made a gigantic improvement in my ability to fit in the car. I'm a long legged 6'2" guy. So before, my knees were always getting in the way of steering. Now I feel like itruly fit in the car.
