While the "Bahama-mama" is in production, I'm having a great time playing with several small details, including these beauties made by Jimmy Tidwell:

Titanium lug nuts! They are so light & beautiful, makes me want to wear them around my neck. (yah, nuts around my neck)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412116554.jpg
So, just out of curiosity I weighed them to see what the differences would be:
Steel = 1.2 oz.
Aluminum = .6 oz.
and the Ti = .7 oz.
Jimmy offers them in two post-production finishes: glass bead blasted or the machined finish (above). If you're a detail-freak and noticed the blemish on the threads, it is not a defect, just rubber scrapings from the hose it was on. ;) The details on these nuts are spectacular! Go get some.

I've been resisting. How much?

blee 10-01-2014 05:31 AM

It's inevitable. $10/pc.

Here's another small detail I just finished - http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412170396.jpg
Had a smaller diameter Carrera steering wheel laying around so I cut the ring off and welded the center hub & spokes from my factory wheel.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412170455.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412170487.jpg
Transferred all the rubber grip padding to make up the diameter of the wheel.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412170538.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412170562.jpg
Added additional felt to finish the grip and to achieve the "thick grip."
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1412171233.jpg
Painted the spokes:

Had a custom leather wrap made up:

And stitched till the cows came home. Much harder than I thought - the Youtube videos made it seem so easy!

You're a mad man Mr Blee. Make sure you never change that about yourself. ;)

Wow Brian...looking good!

Read from start to finish.
You sir, are amazing.

blee 01-21-2015 03:57 PM

Thank you for the encouraging words gents!

Rich - noticed the new addition to the stable. What's a '12 Boss 302? Or is it a '72 Boss 302? Good thing you have that honkin' garage.

Rich Lambert 01-21-2015 04:34 PM

Brian, that would be this...2012 Boss 302. Big fun.

Updates?

You gotta be close to done...right?

blee 05-26-2015 10:14 AM

Close.
Gotta finish fuel tank mod; finish re-finishing the wheels; slap the motor & tranny in; then some wiring; door panels; re-spray the driver door (I'll tell you later.)... Hmmmm, maybe not close? I hope to have it on the road before summer is over.

Rich Lambert 05-26-2015 10:23 AM

Brian, if you ever need any help, I have every day off.

kenikh 05-26-2015 10:55 AM

Rich, how do you feel about restoring a '69S? ;) I have never-y day off.

Looking great Brian! You should swing by and check out the shop sometime! Or hit me up if you need a hand...I am just down the road!

blee 05-28-2015 08:27 AM

See, this is what I'm talkin' about! A community of fellow enthusiasts providing encouragement and the willingness to sacrifice valuable time to help each other... you guys are great! I really appreciate it.
I need to get'er done so we can cruise.
