Heater Control Backdate

I have a '87 Carrera with a problematic heater control unit. I would like to backdate to manual control levers - on/off simple ... right?

Has anyone done this ? Will the footwell blowers still work ? Is it as straightforward as it seems?

Thanks

I did it with my 84 and it was simple...but I don't have footwell blowers anymore.

Hence the simplicity.

So basically my levers on the handbrake simply open and close the heater valves for engine forced heat. Seems to work but have not really put it to the test for really cold days and my car is mostly for fair weather.

Not sure how it would work with the footwell blowers.
