Need some info on an apparently rare Porsche 911, Probably a Club Sport 1989

Okay, my parents have owned this car for a while, but never really got around to learn anything about it, but my dad really likes it and we have gotten offers from Porsche dealer ships on it before.
It's a 911 1989
Carrera
A/C
It's gray
We've heard various numbers on it ranging from 15 and under, but Wikipedia makes it seem like there's around 25 in the states, but only two that have A/C?
It seems like it's a 89 Club sport.
Any info is appreciated, and it also has really low mileage (In the low 20k's)
Oh yah I also had a yahoo answers question, but only got 2 conflicting answers.
Edit:
When I mean any info I mean ANY info.
Like handling/ history, basically anything.

choco, you need to post the vin numbers, engine numbers and any documentation.
It is way easier to tell what you have with that info.
Yes, club sports are pretty rare.

I know those would be helpful, but I'm not really close to the shop where my dad keeps it.
I made an account just to post this xD.

Hey Choco,
Clubsports are pretty rare. Do a search here in the 911 technical forum and you'll find a fairly recent thread where a number of us were talking about them and their value. There's one here in Denver that's been for sale for a number of months at $79,000. That's kind of the high end of the market, as you can tell since it's still for sale.

However, condition is everything on these cars. A car that's been sitting for years and needs $20k worth of refurbishment is going to be worth much less than a car that's driven 5000 miles a year and has a bible full of records on it. If you want us to help evaluate your exact car you'll need to get us much more exact information and pictures.

Either that or talk dad into giving/selling the car to you. That's what I would do if it were my dad's car.

The thing that baffles me is the air conditioner.

Until you post more info/pics, we really can't tell you much.

What about calling your dad and get the VIN so you can post it? Wouldn't he know what he bought?

In "the day"....these were pretty goofy cars. In 1988, they essentially took a "stock" Carrera, took out some standard features, reprogrammed the computer for a slightly higher rev limit, used hollow-stem exhaust valves...and saved maybe 150 lbs of weight at the expense of lots of loss of convenience. I mean c'mon.....removing the coat hook ?.....the glove box door? No A/C? Car and Driver did a test comparing a CS with a stock Corvette at the time, and the Corvette, A/C and power windows and all....simply walked over this car.

Porsche was trying to emulate the really cool RS and RSR of the 70's...and tried this in 88 and 89. Oh yeah....for stripping the car.....you got the privelege (then) of paying $10k more....IIRC. I think later reports indicated something like 20 being imported into USA. Don't know if this was "per year" or total over 2 years.

Why do you think it's a Clubsport anyway? No offense but you and you father don't appear to know anything at all about "Caberra" 911s so why would you find yourself magically in possesion of a rare specimen?

Is there a Clubsport sticker on the fender? That would be a good place to start. How about rear seat backs...are there any? Glove box door? Passenger side sun visor?

Well from the info someone else gave me on yahoo answers

The only car that seems to match your specs for year and number sold in the U.S. is the 911 Carrera Club Sport with 21 delivered in the U.S. in 1988 and 7 delivered in 1989. This car was intended for Porsche Club racing and weighed 155 pounds less than the standard Carrera of the time. The Club Sport originally had a "CS" decal on the front side of the car, although some may have been delivered without the decal, and some may have had it removed since.

Now I could be totally wrong, and it could be just a normal 911 made in 1989 like some other guy said.
But when we received the vehicle, and throughought the years we've always been told it's a very rare vehicle, and there are around less than 10 of them in the US, but according to this there should be around 23 of the model, but only 2 with A/c according to wikipedia.

chococrazy-we really are interested in helping you but to keep posting questions and speculation really doesn't get anywhere.

The VIN will prove, without a doubt, what your dad has in his possession.

Alright guys, I'll tell my dad to get me the vin. He owns a body shop, and he keeps it in storage there. If I can't get the VIN for you tommorow then I'll try to go up there and snap a few pictures on friday or saturday.
