that certainly won't be a color combo for everyone, but i love the uniqueness. green dash, green carpets, green seats - total commitment. love it.

Anybody know what this exterior color is called? COA doesn't help as it says "paint to sample". a bit off white that I think suits a 1977 perfectly. Interior is orange/terra-cotta & black with pinstripe inserts.
Also including a neat pic of my baby along with my dads. 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda. 440. Dad ordered the car new. Always laugh that the notoriously leaky, flat six lives above the perfect, rotisserie restoration. hope the drip trays do their job ;-) ![]()

That looks like Grand Prix White to me. Do you have a paint code tag on the car?

thanks Bleedsblue.
Javadog, I should know this but don't; where is the paint code tag located. As per COA, its a ;aint to sample car. not sure if this changes anything. as always, thanks in advance for the camaraderie and help! |

If it's a left hand drive car, look on the inside of the driver's door jamb, at the front, near the door check strap. Grand Prix White would be paint code 908.
It was a standard paint color in 1977, so it shouldn't be paint to sample. I have a white 1977 Carrera 3.0 and it looks just like your car, so... JR |

finally had time to visit the c3 today. drained the transaxle fluid and added the swepco 201. didn't believe the rest of the congregation, but what a difference. best $60 bucks and 1 hour of time spent.
also have done some detective work. the color code is 171-9-2. from what I've learned, the color is Elfenbein (171 - Light Ivory), Glasurit paint (9) applied at Porsche factory (2). the first picture definitely makes it look more white than it is. |

Hi, I noticed this site disappeared from the web ... it was a precious source of information ... any idea on what happened?
I have noticed that most of the content is available at http://911carrera3.com ... but apparently it has not been updated since 2012 ... Rgds M.

Carrera 3.0 questions ..
Hi Pelicans,
proud to tell you that I bought a Carrera 3.0, a car I always wanted b/c it was build in my year of birth .. Since Porsche can't deliver a COA (b/c it was lost in a flood) I am looking for signs everywhere .. Seems like it was talbot yellow originally .. No signs of original interior (what where the most common combinations with talbot yellow?). I can read from the engine and engine number, that it is indeed a Carrera 3.0 engine and indeed a 76 Carrera 3.0 chassis. Unfortunately, the trans number has been sheared of the block so is there a chance to see whether it is a carrera 3.0 trans or not!? Plan is to return it to original .. Thanks guys! And a couple of pictures .. |

Wow, lots of changes to that car.
Best guess on the interior color would be Cork or Black, probably. The transmission should be a magnesium cased 915, with an electronic speedo drive and no omega spring. Beyond that, you could check the gear ratios. You could also look for casting dates on some of the parts and see how those compared with other date stamps on the car. It would have been a 915/44, assuming that it is a 5 speed. A 915/44 was shared with other models that year, so it would be hard to say it is definitely original to the car. JR |

transmission
so - if it has an omega spring would automatically mean that the trans isnt original?

No. The spring could have been added. I have a 923/02 gearbox in mine, and a spring has been added to that.
But, I would have expected that a spring wouldn't have been present on a 1976 and would have been present on a 1977. You might look at the small coil spring that is attached to the little lever. On a transmission that was originally fitted with the omega spring, one end of the little coil spring has a place on the gearbox casting to attach it to and on ones that have been added, this is often absent.
