A funny thing that some watch enthusiasts do to e-bay scammers selling fake rolexes, etc. is to put in a huge bid ($1,000,000) but then immediately retract it (there must be some air tight retraction policy), with comments like ("I retracted because this WATCH IS AN OBVIOUS FAKE."). Its funny because the retraction and comment show up on the e-bay page.

As a frequent EBAY seller and buyer, these are the types of people that really get me mad. My guess is EBAY got wind of this auction and ended it. They are pretty good at that when there is a suspect seller. I have over 100 positive transactions and have found some really great deals on there. Then a guy like this comes along and gives it a black eye. There was a person a few weeks ago trying to auction off a brand new twin turbo and wanted western union wired money, he even wanted 3 seperate payments of $900 (under the reportable limit) for the deposit. Well, enough people complained and EBAY ended it. Im sure that is what happened to this guy, or maybe the same person.

Maybe a stupid question but. . .I'm surprised nobody questioned the Audi/Porsche connection. The Carerra GT is NOT an Audi. It is (will be. . .I hope) a Porsche. With Porsche remaining independant, the uncle at Audi is less than meaningless (or am I missing something)?

There ought to be a way to shut this fraud down. But, since I refuse to give a credit card number on line, I can't communicate with the auction sites. PT Barnum may have been right. Can't help but wonder if anybody has been suckered into sending a "deposit"?

Wow. His Yahoo site even has a VIN number that would indicate that this car is almost the 7000th car off the line. If that's the case, surely I can find a used one by now.

Question

YOU CAN ADD ANYTHING YOU WANT TO YOUR PORSCHE WITHOUT ANY ADDITIONAL COST AFTER AUCTIONS ENDS? What is this supposed to mean? He says the car is ready for delivery.

Anyone that has a yahoo email account, and possibly have signed up for yahoo auctions, you can go to that link and click on the neighboorhood watch thing at the top of the page, then sign in. It will leave a rating saying that it has a possible terms of service violation. I already have done so, and hope more people will.
Click the link below to do so.

Ok, my turn. I sent him the following:

Hello, I just wanted to inform you that I, and others, are onto your scams and are in the process of taking civil and criminal action. You are attempting to sell a vehicle(s) that you do not possess, easily proven by the fact that 1) the car is not yet in production; 2) the description you have given is clearly in error; and 3) the VIN # has been confirmed as fictitious. Even attempting to sell these vehicles is fraud, even if no one sends any money. We are also tracking your auctions and your high bidders; should you defraud them of any money our suit against you will only get stronger. You have already committed a series of felonies, and having crossed state lines in the process, are now in federal jurisdiction as well. Yahoo and EBay are assisting and cooperating with us as well in obtaining your IP address and true identity. Whether you are a grown adult aware of the scams you are attempting or some punk kid with nothing better to do is irrelevant, I (as a practicing IP and internet attorney) and others (including friends of mine in the Justice Department) take these sorts of activities seriously, and the consequences for them are equally severe. I look forward to meeting you personally; I am sure it will be in court with you shackled and in cuffs.

Good Day,

Colby Leonard

HAHA, now that is a good one Colby. I sent an e-mail to yahoo customer service with a link to the e-bay auction as well as giving facts about the car in question. I would love to see this punk prosecuted for this, even if he thinks it is harmless.

Here's his reply when I asked for a VIN:

VIN NUMBER IS NOT AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE CAR IS NOT IN THE US AND IS FOR COLLECTION PURPOSES ONLY. A VIN NUMBER WILL BE GIVEN AT TIME OF DELIVERY

Do people really fall for these scams? Proof that some folks have more money than brains.

Has anyone called Porsche NA yet? They might be interested in this as well......

You know....if we can figure out who he is, we should enter the bid for the car. The other legal side of this is that he has to provide the vehicle....the only way we are held liable to pay him is if he provides the item, which his uncle will probably not do.

Whatta you all think, should we make the call to Atlanta?

Actually, according to the terms (which is he allowed to set), payment is due prior to delivery, so no you can't refuse payment just because he can't deliver. You have to pay first, then if he doesn't deliver you can sue for damages. If you don't pay, you are first in breach and he has no duty to provide the vehicle. If you do pay, he runs. Note he never actually needs the car. If the contract said full payment on delivery, then yes you would not be liable to pay until delivery, but that clearly isn't the case here. Which is why I warned ppl earlier about "playful" bidding.

Hello

Can someone decode that VIN or run a carfax ?

WP0AB29901S686977

Now he sales a 2002 911 carrera GT.

An other quest reguarding the ricefull Civic Si. Did they ever had AWD ?

BTW Audi is owned to nearly 100% from Volkswagen.

Niow the GEO from VW is Mr Piech who had many wired marriages and kinders ( Coast german for kids ) and some strange things happend in that family.

Lamborgini is owned high percentage by Audi.

The V8 Turbo will maybe come with the SUVer.

Now the relation to Honda is a bit out of the picture.

The Rolex looks so fakey and ugly that it must be a original brilli version.

And this is my first thread that pushed over 3 answers. Well not bad for the secound try.

Grüsse
