PCV 3.2 Does she need it or TEMINATE? How?

Hey Fellas,

How many of you have Capped Off or Terminated the PCV. Pics Please ???

Today my wrench told me if it fails it will mess with the idle, creating a vacuum leak of sorts.

What are your experiences?

Can it be cleaned?

PCV & Rubber Sleeve "baffle" are NLA PAG or PPB so that sucks

Compliment of GH85Carrera:

TIA

As a rule removing a PVC valve by blocking it off will cause an engine to build up pressure in the crankcase causing it to leak oil like crazy. The layout of the oil system of the 911 motor is a fair bit different from the average wetsump system but I can't see how it could avoid the same problem. If there was any openings that could release the crankcase pressure those openings would also allow dirt into the system.

So either you must have a PVC (which you have found for cheap) or you must have a breather (which would fail emissions).

I may be wrong, but thermo swtich on the TB opens the path to that hose only during cold weather.

The two large hoses provide all the pressure relief you need, and the vapors are fed into the intake. The entire crankcase/oil tank is under "semi" vacuum, the vacuum that exists after the AFM, but not full intake vacuum that exists after the throttle plate.

FWIW, mine is blocked off. No ill effects.

It's to prevent icing on the throttle body in cold temps.
I just capped it off on my 3.2, but I don't drive it in cold weather.

Hose Clamps

I don't want to intrude on this post put the picture of the PCV with the hose clamps got me wondering. I've never tried to remove that type of hose clamp. Is there a secret?

It looks like it takes a special crimper to replace with the exact type clamp. Do you just open it with a screw driver or something and replace it with a conventional hose clamp? Thanks.

Oh No intrusion Brother.

Yes indeed it uses a special crimper or a Wire Nipper $12.00 at an Hardware store. BUt only to crimp on, it needs to be destroyed if removed to get it off. So I used the nipper to cut it off but used a Standard hose clamp to put the new PCV valve on around the OEM baffle.

Oetiker clamps. Easy to put on. Not easy to re-use.
