Wide Body Conversion Kit

Hello! I recently purchased a 1978 Mocha Brown 911SC completely stock. As most of you can attest, I WANT TO DO A WIDEBODY CONVERSION. I'm a little afraid this might be the start to a longer project though...
I searched around this forum, and it seems that the Better Bodies Conversion Kit is the way to go? Any thoughts?
Also, is there any advice I should know beforehand? I was thinking about doing a long nose conversion too... oh dear, the list is already beginning to expand.

My car was a Better Bodies (993 GT2) conversion. Parts seem quality. However, I wouldn't be able to give the car away these days if I tried. Clean-up and sell your SC, then take that $$$ and buy someone else's project. You'll be way ahead financially and all the hard work will have been done.

I could be wrong but I dont think Better Bodies carry backdated longhood RSR parts. They mainly have aftermarket pieces like Strosek and such. If your going classic long hood wide body RSR look then I recommend GT Racing. I'm pretty sure they even have the long hood that will work with your existing hood latch. Talk to Joel, he is a stand up guy and very helpful.

Before:

After: ($10,000+ later, with all the work except welding the rear flares done in my garage)

A suggestion: Unless you are building a track car, do yourself a favor and use steel 930 front fenders and rear quarters, skip the fiberglass ones. You can find used OEM ones for decent prices here and on ebay and the end result is worth the difference.

It took my brother and I over 7 months to complete this project, working on it nearly every day. If you are paying a shop to do the conversion, I hope you have a well-stocked bank account! As Danny_Ocean said, you'll be money and time ahead buying someone else's near-finished project or a finished car...unless you own a body shop.

Welcome,
Can't offer much help but my car started out 1978 stock and mocha brown, same exact way as yours. A widebody job was done by kremer in Germany only a few years after 1978. Its was then painted white a couple times. You'll be crazy for your car once you do it,trust me, just make sure you do it right

Thank you all for the great responses. I'm leaning towards keeping it original as many of you guys are suggesting.. i guess the project side of me must wait! Is there any other minimal thing that you guys suggest I do as a small project on the car?

I would recommend buying a car that has already been converted (that's what I did). It is a lot less expensive to build on from there. But if you insist on taking on this project, hit up rattlsnak on this forum. He has a shop and has done several conversions and can provide some good info/advice on how to tackle this.
