Here's another pic of our cars after 3 hard days at Calabogie. Yes I had some over heating issues mainly from trying to keep up with that Ruby car. Trying to keep up with that 964 turbo and supercharged Z4 didn't help either.

Oil cooling ducts
In the Quest for air flow to the front coolers, I 'm thinking about removing the blinker lights. Since I have 2 sets per side why not have all functions go through the outside markers and use the inner area as an open air passage. Has anyone done this and if so any pics?

I saw the biggest improvement when I carefully sealed off (and ducted) all possible air routes through the fender that don't lead through the cooler(s). Do you have fans on both? I take my headlight buckets out on track days and have the backs of the buckets (fiberglass, in my case) cut out for additional airflow.
This was on a 101° track day. ![]()

I only have a small mocal in the passenger side which didn't work so well once the outside temps hit 35+(90) at the track. I tried your headlight route (see last picture) but didn't have the cooler enclosed. I'll be putting dual 44 row coolers in with no fan. Jack,I plan on incorporating your tricks into my setup and because I have the stock mid year bumper I was thinking the front marker light area would give me even more air flow.

Nice thread and you will enjoy the 3.6. I backdated my car and put the biggest SETRAB cooler in the front spoiler that would fit, and no temp issues so far. The cooler on the RH fender cooler does help if you get stuck in traffic.

Any pictures? I would love to put a valance cooler in but I was told you can't do this with the stock bumper/valance setup.

I have a different front end so it would not help much. Mine is backdated to the 1973 RS specs and the cooler in the front fits in a hole in the spoiler that was made for it.

Sorry, didn't notice the "backdated" part. Still, would be nice to see you have done to your car. Back to the front cooler issue, have you or anyone else seen a valance cooler setup on a stock nose?

Here you go. Its pretty raw, just back from being shot with new paint and nothing installed on the car, so no mirrors, handles, lights and so on but will show you how the RS bumper gives you a place for the front oil cooler.

I cut out a couple of large notches in the bottom of the bumper and, thanks to Wil Ferch's idea I opened up a direct route to the coolers through the bumper.
