Congratulations! My questions, as someone that hasn't done this yet:
Do you think it will go faster next time? It looks like you removed the tranny separately - why? I've always heard it was easier to drop the two together... Did you do the job in that narrow space in the picture? Whoa! And did you/were you able to do the job solo? Most of my friends would sooner help me move a body than pull an engine. Emanuel

I spend 3 hours yesterday on unbolting everything, dropped the engine today in about an hour. It was my second time, and somewhat quicker then the first time. I had no problems doing thing by myself and I would never try to drop tranny and engine separately. It is just to easy dropping them in one piece and then seperating them. But then, mine is a 70, and you need to be some kind of octopus to disengage the clutch fork with the engine in the car.
My garage is only marginally wider, so much envy on you guys with double or better garages.

Eagle Keeper,
Holy Cow! You've barely got shoulder room there! I'm very impressed! The only experience I've had with an engine pull/drop was in a large Ford dealership, with loads of tools and advice, whilst under the watchful eye of the shop foreman (and it wasn't even my car!!). At the time, I felt it was exciting and rewarding, but I'm blown away by you doing it in such close confines. Here's me, deep within Matt Holcomb's engine bay, with lots of other room...

Jason, you deserve a medal for doing the drop inside that tiny space! I got claustrophobic just looking at your pictures!

THANKS to everyone!
To answer some questions. I did have 1 person helping me. I think that I could have done it solo but it would have taken a lot longer. With both of us in there it is VERY cramped. I did drop the engine and trans at the same time, then I seperated them on the ground. We had to be VERY careful with the tools. All it takes is one dropped wrench!!!;( I also disassembled the body and reassembled it in that small space! The garage stretcher is still on back order!!
