PM me your mailing address.
I'll send you a complete good replacement WUR line to use and a length of the correct tubing to repair the one you have.
Just send the old one back when you're done with it...
You laugh at my clear fuel lines but notice the lines they use on the engine of the 917.... Just saying...

LOL...
But yours were leaking and you had no idea what they were made of...
I'm going to assume the 917 was fully engineered and they had the right stuff...
All kinds of polyamide lines out there.
If you search you can get pink ones too!
Your new (and used) wur lines are in the mail.

They REALLY are official fuel line hoses ordered from a chemical hose specialist online. They are specially designed to handle both gas and ethanol. I promise, they aren't from a fish tank! That said, I won't turn down an offer to grab some better ones!

No new parts in the mail...grrr.

Probably Monday for the stuff I sent. You are on the other coast and the pony express isn't that fast.
You probably have a few other projects that need attention around the house...
Make the better half happy....

Or I know of a '75 w/o boosted brakes you could take for a spin if you make it down to Mobile . (do I recall correctly you had family around here?)

Yes! They came in yesterday. Thanks! Cannot wait to install them. Last night I had a number of business meetings, didn't get back until 10pm. Hopefully, i'll get some time tonight. I'll take a picture. I am hoping this will stop my leakage. It is ever so slight but I want to plug up all the holes.

I am looking forward to welding my shift linkage though. Tonite might be a long shot.

I decided to weld my broken my shift linkage despite having a good one currently in transit. This would avoid a premature engine drop. If you want the play by play here it is.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/749906-shifter-breakdown-not-going-into-1st-2nd.html#post7461985

I found that the shift rod was cracked and needed to be repaired.

I vice gripped the part together....

Welded it and cleaned it up with my grinder and dremel.

I put it all together and greased it up nicely.

After it was all together, it ran like a dream. I can now get to every gear with little problem at all.

I took it for a nice long drive. It started and idled nicely. The whole ride I didn't have any problems with idle. I haven't taken it on a full drive...you know, 20 mins, it is doing fairly well. I do notice there is some slight hesitation in it. I suspect I am running too lean. I am going to have to clean this up again.

Here is my dash after about 15 minutes of driving. Nicely idling at 1000 rpms. Haven't had that yet. I am getting closer and closer to getting this properly tuned.

Next up tonite, if I can get out is to replace my fuel line to the WUR to satisfy Timmy2. Then perhaps, I might hit the polisher on the deck lid. Oh and yes, the foggy gauge is rather annoying. It's on the list.

Isn't that an incredible feeling? Congrats!

My oil gauge does the same and I've seen pictures of others doing it as well, what in the world causes that one to fog?

Timmy2, Sobamaflyer, manbridge74 & all the others who helped, you guys RULE! Thanks for all your help.

My idle problem is OFFICIALLY RESOLVED!!!
WOOHOOO!!!!

After working on this issue for about a year (although not constantly), I have licked this problem. Tonite, I drove the car for about an hour and 30 miles! At the end, it was idling at 900-1000 rpms. It starts without having to touch the accelerator. The idle is a little rough for the first 30 seconds, then settles in to about 6-700 rpms; after a couple of minutes it'll idle nicely at 900 rpms. I'll still be tweaking it here and there because I am OC nutjob. Plus, at 35 MPH it gives me a slight bucking problem, feels like it might be running slightly lean.

The problem turned out to be a cross between the mixture screw, the idle setting and the WUR. Tapping the brass circle on the WUR was really the key to figuring this who thing out.

However, this does mean that I didn't do the other things I intended to do, but WHO CARES!

This is a great thread to get me started on a new project!

I have the mother-in-law over this weekend from the UK (not a fan of the mother in law!) so I have some time to tinker on my 1976 buick regal and check out this site.

I always wanted to own a vintage german car but often wondered how expensive such a project would be to run. It does not seem as bad as I previously thought.

I read up on this a while ago, overtime, the car gets moisture in the gauge. You can get rid if it by carefully drilling a hole in it and filling it with desiccant (you know that little bag of stuff you get in electronic that says "do not eat").

ANother option I have heard about was taking it out and putting it in a very hot dry place but positioning it so the steam can rise out of the gauge. Probably this could be done with a hair dryer.

On really damp days it is pretty foggy, but in general it is clear. Again...just another item on the list. Funny how many of the same problems we seem to have.

Congrats! This is such a great thread to follow, I'm learning alot about my car in the process .

And I also have a gauge that fogs up, I'm pretty sure it's the same one as yours...it only fogs sometimes, most of the time it's clear....like yours...

I've thought that.....

What's funny is this is the only one of mine that fogs, and I promise I expose all 5 to copious humidity

After my weekend chores...I polished my deck lid finally. I still need practice doing this as a few times I burned in a little swirl mark, but I am getting the hang of it.

Take a look at the final result. Cha chow. I tried also polishing my front left fender but it was too far gone. If I am going to resurrect it, I think I'll have to wetsand first.

Nice work, looks better than the rattle can paint job you were considering at one point.
One of the main benefits of black paint (maybe the only one) is the ability to paint one panel at a time and not have to blend the paint.
