Wachuko: simply don't know just yet. I do know John is getting ready to paint within a few weeks......I've got to send the console back to Tony for some rework and get the shift knob back from him. The knob and steering wheel will head to Dallas Custom for their rework.

I've had the front seats sitting in the house for a full (+) week to let them settle in and see how all of the leather is situating.....I think they'll be OK but do have a few crease points from the shipping,...maybe something that's worked out with heat,..we'll see. Tony and crew have been very supportive so I'll be checking in with him in a few days.

I know one thing: I've got tons of "stuff" to deliver to John Holt's shop!!!!!!!! He states that it will take about 75 hours to reassemble everything after the paint cures, so we're still looking at a bit of time (still).

Not too much, however!

Best!

An update, of sorts. This has been a long haul, for sure.

My recently rx'd front seats arrived with a few issues, as did the dash. The door handles are being reworked and is the co nsole (we sustained a nick during shipment on that one).

Surely no fun in repackaging front seats for a 2, 920 mile trek back. Nonethe less, Tony is working this quite diligently and am awaiting the anticipated results.

My Painter, Professor John Holt, is standing by for all interior components to be ready,..then the Gent will spray then put her back together. This man has the utmost patience of anyone I've met!!! He's as excited about the outcome as I am!!! ( A good thing).

SO: we (still) await the upholster's final professional touches to achieve concourse levels, Should know something within a week.

,...Still moving forward,...thus far.

Standby for news!

BEST!

Hi Doyle. Looks like things are coming together really well. I am in the middle of a similar reassembly and I'm curious as to where you got your gauge backing material. Thanks very much and continued success with your project!

Just a short update to all who have been following:::::

As you know, I had to send my front seats, dash, console and door handles back for rework. Rx'd an update today that I should have everything back within 1 month. I sure hope all is "up to expectations" and I can get started with the paint job soon. I think my Painter (John Holt of HotWheels/Marietta, GA) has primed the damned car more than once and states that it's "hard as nails", completely ready to take on some fresh Glasurit Silver Metallic.

Cannot believe this has taken so long. I can't thank John Holt enough for sharing in the needed patience that has been required from the both of us. He is, without question, the BEST!

Soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best to all!

Doyle

A good buddy of mine is finally getting his 911 track car into it's final stages. Whenever I get my girl back, we're planning on dropping the engine and making the business end as nice and new-looking as everything else. He just sent me this pic to entice me. WOW!

BEST!

I've been following this thread for a while. The attention to detail is fantastic.

I will likely be paying Jon a visit in the next few weeks with my hooptie.

Rattlsnak- how often are you at the shop?

Total restoration of a Carrera 3.2 coupe.

I too am in the middle of a total restoration of a 1988 Carrera Sport Coupe. The body is off for stripping, body work and paint. The engine and transmission are at another shop for an engine rebuild. The interior is out and at another shop for all new leather, carpet and head-liner. This is the second restoration project I have worked on. The first was a 1989 964 C4 coupe. It turned out fabulous......not doubt this one will too. These projects are exciting but can get very spendy no matter how good the donor car is. Mind 88 has 70k original miles and all books and records and we have still found surprises that we couldn't plan for.
The end result is defiantly worth the time and effort especially on this vintage car.
Have fun and enjoy!

Wow,..what a trek, indeed. Never thought this process would take this long, primarily with the interior restoration side. Speechless.

Should be getting the front seats back next week (they had to be reworked).

Once every single piece is in hand, I'll make the run up to John Holt's place (HotWheels, Marietta GA) to make the delivery then off we go for paint.

What a story to tell...

Hope to be back in the game soon.

Best to all!

Doyle
