Also, waiting on the steering wheel and shift knob return. Tony was gracious enough to send me the needed materials for both of these projects. I'm presently in touch with Dallas Custom Steering wheels to get those pieces done!!!
Good com from that group,..looking forward to working with them!!!' BEST! Doyle

Just read this whole thread and I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.
You mention you enjoyed unwinding with the car after work; are you sure after it's restored to this museum-quality degree you are going to use it? I also think I've found my painter from this thread- if YOU are happy with him, I can't think of a higher recommendation. Good luck getting it back to where it can be used- if you dare.

gsxrken: You betcha' I'll use it! Trust me,..I've often thought of what I'm creating (monster?) and have decided to not place her in any museums! I "may" reduce her use (just a bit).
Need to get the 50th Anniversary car (I keep telling my Wife!!) You won't be disappointed with John Holt,..THAT'S for sure! BEST! Doyle

It's always good to know that I am not "that" far gone! Awesome! Guess I should start my own ST touring build thread.

So many frikin' pieces, indeed.
nicfranc: I've a sense of what's been spent thus far,..but there's still so much more to go. I do keep a very thorough spreadsheet, indeed. I'd prefer a PM approach, for now, as to that data. Geeze,..I've just stopped counting (of course that sigma button always prevails!). I can surely tell you this: it's not chump change, as we've been extremely thorough in restoration. BEST! Doyle

Amazing build, congratulations! Can you list each of the vendors you used and what they did/supplied? It looks like it would be a "best of" list.

A few things are inbound,..such as front seats, dash, gauge panel,,..really misc. pieces of the interior materials.
Sure was nice to see the provided pillar cover materials, ready to go,..as well as the (his) high quality headliner material. These areas are to be covered by a local upholstery shop in GA, and will be whomever John Holt (Painter) chooses. I'm with John, period. Don't know who nor how much just yet....just stuff to be done to make the interior complete. Interestingly enough to have stripped her guts out and ship to Washington State for the Vendor, however this was carefully chosen and high preferential. Cost wasn't the concern here, and preferences, especially "pedigree", were my personal interests and preferences. These levels of Vendors can be quite expensive and completely stand by their work (more so, craftsmanship). One thing, for sure, is that Tony Hazel of Heritage Trim & Upholstery completely stands by his work. His warranty is as stated. He's been extremely helpful in sharing his knowledge and experience. Geeze,..we're coming up on almost a complete year from when we started!!! SO: I've spent some time chatting with this fine fellow, being better for it. Most of the time, you get what you pay for,..and I can gladly say that I've no problem with the necc'y costs associated with achieving the goal. Fine work, indeed. Again, I've a few pieces to yet see, ...looks like they'll beat Santa here, however! I asked Tony to return every stitch of the removed items and has certainly obliged! (Extra shipping costs at my indulgence). As mentioned earlier (with way too many pics), I've a boatload of new parts (compliments of our Sponsor) that will be installed (none of which have anything to do with the upholstery project. Guess I dropped about $6K within that category. I posted pics of that lot earlier, just before packing 'em away...long list of fresh parts. And (ahem), I still have to get her painted, then re-assembled. Give me 2-3 weeks (maybe?) and I should know more. It's been a journey, indeed. BEST! Doyle

Shaun,
I guess, at some point, I could get some screenshots posted as to parts sourcing. To be quite honest, just about everything was sourced through Pelican Parts (all Porsche parts) and I had a few waits to get stuff,....still, no problems. I've about $6.3K in to these parts. Pelican was very helpful and always delivered the goods. All gauges were reworked by North Hollywood Speedo,..and I do mean fresh glass, recals, painted needles, the whole deal. Dumb-arse me had to have them back overnight so that total bill was VERY close to $1K. Had I been a bit more conservative, it would have been in the mid $800 range. QUALITY work by Hartmuth and crew!!!!!!! A few oddities here and there,..such as VIN sticker engagement,..or,...I think I got a new front spoiler from a vendor here on PP. Sorry, but I'd rather not post any upholstery expenses as I've learned this process to be very customized at so many levels,..then those "values" take bay......becomes a personal call.....I'd prefer to not debate how I choose to spend my money in a public forum,..and my Vendor deserves such, as well. I'm sure you understand. Still: "it costs what it costs", so PM me a bit later, Sir. BEST! Doyle

Rainy day in GA for deliveries. Expecting two boxes but have only rx'd one so far.
Of course, I'll post pics of the boxes contents a bit later, but did want to share what this box looked like when it landed on my doorstep from the UPS guys. My heart skipped a few beats, while noting the condition,.and asking him to note it (as well. He stated he had another box but would have to come back later today (WTF?). Anywaze, as he drove off, I headed straight to the medicine cabinet to grab a well-needed Xanax then to my back porch to vape on some tasty banana nut bread juice from my mix-master,..trying to relax before I opened this box.. In any event, I wanted to share some shipping pics. One thing I CAN say with certainty is that Heritage's shipping has always proven VERY robust and extremely protective of the contents. Will share those content pics later,..for now,....the shipment delivery shots: The front seats are in this box, BTW: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Later! ![]() Doyle
