My new-to-me Venetian Blue '88 911.
After searching for a few months at all the normal locations, I came across this car on Craigslist in Texas (I'm in Denver). About 200k miles, full rebuild at 150k, Boxter front brakes, H4 headlights, 7" and 8" polished Fuchs, and Sparco seats. It's had the same owner since 30k miles, and it's been maintained at the same independent shop for the past 10 years. The interior is in fantastic shape - and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. There is an extra AC condenser in it, and it blows so cold that I had to leave it on the first setting. I thought getting a functional AC setup would cost thousands, but it seemed like he just updated the hoses, and added that condenser.
The only issues with it are the pistons that hold up the front and back lid are blown, and the windshield washer system doesn't work. Both seam like easy fixes, though. One issue I didn't really anticipate, though, was the seat height. I'm 5'8, and I feel like I'm just barely looking over the wiper blades. I thought the seats were pretty ugly (white and blue), but they're so damn comfy and lightweight that I think it would be hard to go back to the normal seats. Are there any lightweight seats with height and back adjustments that are geared more towards street use? I love the bolstering, but I need to be up higher. I have 800 miles to drive tomorrow, and I think I might sit on my jacket. Looking forward to contributing here!

Once I get all the receipts shipped to me, I'll post up what he did. Just on conversing, he said he updated the hoses, converted it to R134, and added that condenser in the rear wheel well. I'll take a look at the compressor tomorrow to see if it's stock or not.

That looks like a pretty sweet car.
Depending on how the seats are mounted, you might be able to adjust them up after getting home. If not, try researching adjustable side-mount brackets that will enable you to raise the seat and change its angle to make it more comfortable for longer drives. Alternatively, consider finding a pair of factory sport seats and swapping the race seats out. Although heavier, they're very good at holding you in and provide easy entry/exit.

There are aluminium spacers that fit under the stock seats , maybe yours have been removed (if it had them to start with). I took them off my stock 944 Recaros as I like to sit low and the standard wheel position is a bit low.

Honestly there is nothing quite like like buying your 911 and then having a long drive home in it, after the first hour or so you will start to explore the car, then the fun really starts.

I would check how the seats mount to the brackets and see if you can't come up with some spacers that get you to the height you want. You may have to fabricate somethIng. Post some pics here of what you have (seats are usually pretty easy to remove from the car, and we will need to see one removed both the bottom of the seat and the rails inside the car) and I'm sure that you will get plenty of advice. there may even be a simple, cheap and easy solution at your local hardware store.
Good luck. The car looks great and I hope to be able to check it out in person at a coffee and cars soon. |

Beautiful car, great coloring! It sounds like you found a real winner. I think high-mileage SCs and Carreras are the best buys these days - as long as they have been taken care of and have an engine rebuild. If it hasn't been aligned recently, I suggest getting that done soon. My car's handling improved a fair bit after a good shop straightened it up.
Good luck on getting your seats up to height!

Very nice 911!
Was wondering if you could snap a photo of the condenser in the rear wheel well at some point? I'd like to see that install... I'm thinking about a project of the same idea, except with an oil cooler... Again, very nice example. |

One of the very best colors for a mid year car IMO.
