Idle Adjustment
1986 Carrera 3.2 Could someone please give me a definitive answer when adjusting idle. Is it done with the Oxygen sensor inside the engine compartment attached or unplugged?

I was under the impression on DME cars that one couldn't adjust the idle. It was all done by the komputer.

Quite a blunt answer for someone offering his advice. Why don't you Google it

Idle Adjustment
Bluntness unintentional. Apologies. Adjustment is after a chip replacement and I just want to dial in the idle. Nothing definite on Google.

Base Idle is adjusted with O2 attached, but ICV disabled by putting a jumper in test ports B-C so that the ICV won't try to adjust the idle for you while you're setting it. You're trying to set a base point that the ICV can adjust around during normal operation.
Base A/F Mixture is adjusted with O2 detached so the DME won't use the O2 reading to adjust the mixture while you're trying to set it. But no jumper, ICV enabled. |

I've been puzzling (as usual) over the sequence for adjustment. I'm assuming you set the air fuel ratio first, then set the idle as you have indicated.
I don't have an air/fuel ratio gauge so will have to set the a/f first based on the oxygen sensor connector reading (unplugged) then the idle with the oxygen sensor connector plugged back in. Thank you for your response. Much appreciated. |

Did you do a search on idle adjustment? This topic has been posted many times with photos.
Prior to posting, its always a good idea to SEARCH. Even a google search on "idle adjustment, Porsche 3.2" would give you the results you desire. When I started reading through the thread and I got to the RUF-Possche response, I thought exactly as the next sequential reply. Yeah the reply may have seemed a bit abrupt, but it was spot on as flagging it as incorrect.
