Will work for parts

For 55K I would have liked to see them at least clean under the weather seal at the back of the engine bay. I see dirt rust and bubbled paint. However I guess the market's looking up for my '74 though!

I"m the person who bought the 1973 RS. It was by far the best car there and other than that one tag (which I will get to the bottom of and figure out if I should redo it or no), the car is perfect. It is literally one of those very rare "best of the best" cars. The crappy yellow RS with non-original motor went for $550k at Amelia and the talk was that this would be $650k or so. I did some strategic bidding, caught folks off guard, and landed it for a good price.
It is my first air cooled 911 and I'm very excited to have it. |

I drive all of my cars. You don't have to worry about that. I take incredible care of them but I always drive them. They fall apart if you don't.

Glad to hear it. I so seldom see air cooled 911s any more. I drive mine probably 3 times a week.

Congratulations on buying one of the nicest RS's of seen FS in a long time. It is absolutely stunning in red.
I see you are in Southern CA so hopefully you will bring it out and let your fellow PCA members admire your car in the near future. Well done. Bob

It seems a lot like the muscle car craze that happened a few years ago when everything was going for crazy money. I can see a few of the very rare models fetching the high prices but it seems like the ordinary models get dragged up with the feeding frenzy. The good part is that a lot of cars like our " love to hate " middies will get restorations that may not happen otherwise and will live another day, and when the prices fall there will be some nice cars to buy.

You're right on with this one, my '75 is looking better and BETTER everyday. Wouldn't it be just grand if the '75 was the year to have of all the middies now that this has happened, and a '75 Targa no less? A big shout out and Thank You to the winning bidder...

Around 1985 I remember looking at a pristine original white with blue script 73 RS touring at Bruce Canepas shop with fairly low mileage for $35,000

I have a friend who passed up a clean black on red 73 RS touring back in the early 90's at a Pomona swap meet. It was just way to expensive priced at a whopping $45K !!!

That was a lot of money back then. You could buy a condo for that dough down here in San Diego, and a decent house for three times that (at the beaches - the two lot setup I am in with a few other homes cost $140K then) so $45k was a tremendous amount of money for an old 911.
