Used to use the 70 as a daily driver. Having a company vehicle for many years put an end to that. I do drive both 911's weekly about 40-50 mi each. My son has a 85 Carrera that he uses as a daily driver with no problems. A local area friend has a 87 Carrera that he drives daily to work. Even as old as these cars are they are pretty reliable. Love em.

I drive my 79 SC Targa daily. When she needs some work, I steal my wife's car for a few days. Keep it maintained and it will keep rolling for mile after mile.

Daily driver, rain or shine. The more I drive the car the better it seems to run, go figure. It was cool last night, could not resist going for a drive. To me that is the essence of a 911, it makes you want to take it out.

I drive mine 9 months out of the year (cooler month of October through June now that I'm in TX), but always have my back up just is case. They are reliable, but they're also old and things do fail now and then.

Count me in; 86 Carrera Coupe. i waited to long to own it to not drive it every chance i get. I have a truck for truck tasks but the 911 is my primary. 1000 miles a month or so. -J

I alternate between the 911 ('88) and my '76 BMW. My commute is fairly short (5mi) and is barely enough to get the Porsche up to temp, so I tend to rely more on the BMW; in fact, I tend to take a longer route when I drive the Porsche. Both chariots are amazingly reliable.
In terms of reliability and adding miles I wouldn't hesitate using the 911. I would avoid using it for really short errands, though.

For the most part our '86 Targa is my (new) DD, I switch it up with our '86 930 in nice weather. As mentioned, Porsches are meant to be driven.

So I have had two air cooled 911's available for almost 30 years. For the last three years I have also had a 2007 911 Turbo and for the last two years, a 2012 Panamera 4s. The newer cars are really, really nice and fun to drive and yada yada, BUT, I LOVE driving my '84 Cab as often as possible. Seems silly to my wife to leave the others in the garage as much as I do as she prefers those, but there really is nothing like an older aircooled Pcar. The smell is unique in the cabin on top of all the other positive driving aspects.

The car I have now was my absolute daily driver for over 12 years unless there was more than a few inches of snow. It does ok with a little snow/ice if I keep the all season rubber good. I use Yoko Avid V4S.

Great daily driver, bottom line!

My 88 is no longer a DD but only because I can't stand the stop and go traffic and having to depress the clutch so often. 3 times a week to work plus the weekend...

I have an 85 and I drive it often, but not on short runs. I will take drives, as I'm retired, of at least an hour, usually 2. Or roadtrips, even better, just finished up one thru the panhandle up thru Alabama, Chattanooga, and then back down thru Stone Mtn to home. The car loves it. But then so do I. Drive it!!

In 18 years of ownership the only things that have stranded me were the legacy Permatune boxes and my own screw-ups. My screw ups are getting further apart because of this forum. :-)

Includes two years of the 911 being my only car.

I wasn't planning on using mine as a DD, but I love driving my 87 so much, it has become my principle mode of transportation.
My commute is short: 13 miles each way with the occasional detour for groceries and dog parks. The heavy clutch can be a little annoying in commuter traffic, but as soon as there's an opening, it's a delight!

'75 Targa, is my daily driver. Love it, but the commute is not as long as I'd like.

Every day? No. But at least 2-3 days per week. My wife and I downsized to only two cars. If she doesn't need a car for the day, I drive the Golf TDI. But any day she needs a car, I drive the 911, unless it is snowy or icy. Rain, no prob.

Mine has been 100% reliable once I worked out the PO bugs over the first couple months.
