Very cool. I think we need to see the rest of this car for context. I know this is an interior thread and a very cool one at that. However, interiors are closely tied to exteriors (most of the time). I think a lot of these interior shots would be even more drool worthy of we understand the beasts in which they reside.

Love that carpet BTW.

Away with the black

My '88 Carrera came with an all black interior. I found it lifeless and dreary. Square weave carpet from Classic 9 Leather. Seats are Monte Carlos from GT Classics. Tartan is Stewart Dress Modern. Useless rear seats have been deleted in favor of the "luggage drop" option. A much more cheerful environment.

Speak to me of your luggage drop, as I am interested in pursuing a useful flat surface in place of the rear seats...

Also, in general, how do people find tartan as a material? As an example, I really hate cloth seats because they get nasty so easily, and rarely smell good. How does tartan compare? I feel ike I want leather/vinyl with a tartan pattern...Nifty stuff.

Stock seats upholstered in marine naugahyde (free range naugas that only grazed on astroturf) with memory gel inserts for the red. Not as likely to sun fade with the targa top off.

Yes, please. I understand Rennline is working on something too but I don't know if it's one-piece or not.

The Tartan was purchased from Scottish Trading. With some searching you can find websites with hundreds of Tartans illustrated. And from some you can buy sample swatches. There appear to be three mills in Scotland weaving the plaids. Tartan with the same name may look a bit different from one mill to another. The material I used is 13.5 oz. for a running yard 54" wide. This is sometimes called "double wide" as the original hand crafted material was made on a loom 27" wide.

The trimmer has sprayed the fabric with some kind of magic dirt repellent--we will have to see how well it works. Because of their porosity I have found cloth covered seats to be cooler in hot climates. I am in Southern Arizona.

The rear platform are available from at least two sources on the West Coast. Email me if you have trouble locating a vendor.

Here are a few pictures of the reconstruction phase.

I reflocked the inside of the door pockets after they were straightened out.

Not the best picture of the interior with the glare but this it all I have of it all finished.

I personally really enjoy how it turned out with the set inserts. Its very comfortable even in the dead of summer. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I think that's embossing, not perforation.
