Lower it and then have it corner balanced. Here is mine same height since mid 90's.

Your inputs are much appreciated. I'm leaning toward setting the back at 25" and adjusting the front for a slight nose down stance. Les, I think yours is perfect.

My 911SC is set almost exactly as you are planning - 25" rear; 25" front, giving it a slight nose down stance. (25.5 front is "Euro" I believe.) It looks good, but practically it is a little too low for me. I scrape on driveways at the front loops and tail pipe unless I crawl up or down them. If I had to do it over again, I would ask that the car be set at 25.5 rear; 25.5 front.

EDIT: I just read your previous post on your current heights (25.75 front/25.50 rear) - I suppose you are probably ok to setting your car up as you propose. Odd, mine looked like yours before I lowered and my hieghts were like 27!

Very nice looking car you have there. I was thinking on the same bumpers when I widen me 82 911sc. I currently have the euro height and corner balance and the car drives amazing.

Perhaps the most common misconception on this forum.. It's actually lower than "Euro".

Plus, by the time the 3.2 Carrera cars were made, the US height was the same as the Euro height.

This is actually the correct stance. A little lower in the rear (about 1/2") Looks awesome.

How low is too low?

I was wondering how low is too low... Is it that people want them to go as low as possible without rubbing, or is there a point where a 911 just looks too low? I know of a 1972 or 1973 911, all stock, but lowered to something between 23.5 and 23.75 (floor to fender lip) all the way around. Is that too low for a street car? The fronts are easy on these cars, but are the rears hard to raise in the garage? I know there is reindexing to be done, but would that hard for an amateur to do at home...in reality? Alignment and maybe corner balancing would be done professionally...

That's way too low. That car will just about be out of suspension travel.

I find it ridiculous that some people are more concerned with looks than how the cars drive. I got two words for you...

'60 Chevy...

The right height is the height Porsche set the car at when it left the factory.

Does anyone know officially what that is....

Cluskera:

The Factory set the proper ride height for their cars in Europe. In order to meet USA regulations for bumper height, rather than redesign the car they simply raised the car by about an inch. Therefore the question and the problem of setting "proper ride height". It turns out if you can achieve proper camber, the height is not too important. The alignment setting for camber, caster and toe in all have a range of acceptable numbers. Ie "what is proper blood pressure"? It depends on who you ask!

Yes. It's been discussed here a bunch. If you do a search, you'll learn the factory way of measuring ride height and the half-ass way that is generally used.

There is a technical spec book available from Porsche for each of its models and the numbers are in those books. There were two basic sets of height figures, US and everybody else. The first differences in height were noted on the mid-70's models and the last were noted in the early '80's. Before and after, the heights were the same. There were slight variations in height at one end or the other for the turbos, SC's and 3.2 Carreras, so there is more than one "correct height". Rather than make a blanket statement, it's easier to just look up the numbers for an individual car.

Height

This is a picture of my car and the alignment figures and corner balance figures. Put all three of them together and that is what makes a car look good and handle good.
