Grady Clay epitomizes the best of this forum. I never met him, but it's hard to do a search and not find his helpful information everywhere. If it wasn't for forums like this and people like Grady Clay, I know my car wouldn't be on the road.
He really deserves a custom grill badge! If someone would design one I would definitely put it on my car! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/445759-post-your-cool-grill-badges.html All the best Grady! Thanks for all your help! Ron |

Friends:
Sorry to have to tell you that Grady is failing rapidly. His brother Ted was with him when I visited this morning, and other family members are on their way to Denver. I read to Grady all of your kind comments above, which he seemed to appreciate even though he is having great difficulty communicating. The plan is to take him home by ambulance this afternoon so that he can be with his family. If you would like to send a card or a note, his address is 2321 S. Leyden St., Denver, CO 80222. Well put Bob...I don't know the man, but I feel like I do, with all the kind words.
It's my hope that all like minded people will end up in the same place. I'll get to know him then I suppose. All the best to his family during this very difficult time. |

Wow, I remember when Grady offered to teach someone some things there at his shop. I wanted to move, wife said, are u bleepin nuts? I should've gone anyway...I spoke to Jim Watson in Tennessee this morn. He's an old 356 guy, raced in 56 and up, knew Grady. Jim is in his 80's and retired. I'd kill for just the info these guys forgot. Grady will live on...forever.

This is indeed sad news... Need to pen a note for him right now and send it...
By the way, hope this doesn't offend anyone, but if any type of badge is made in his honor, it would be pretty cool to donate the profits to something of his choice. He was involved with young people in schools (science I believe) - can't remember the details but I picked that up from one of a couple phone conversations with him a few years back. Someone closer perhaps could elaborate. I'd sure be honored to put that on my car and think kindly about him every time my eyes fell on the badge. We are not just using a valued community member, we are losing a truly classy human being... angela

Sorry to hear of Grady. He is one of the first folks I met here in Denver years ago when I started hanging with the Pcar community. He has always been helpful and kind to a knucklehead like me through the years and problems and not surprising that so many who never met him feel like they know him from his time on the forums here. A true gentleman. My prayers are with you, Grady.

Grady, thanks for your enthusiasm and imagination about my projects over the years. It was always a pleasure batting ideas around on the phone.
My prayers for your continued strength in facing whatever the future holds. If it is time for you to transition, we are all going to miss you, but no one has lived a fuller, more generous life. Your memory will remain in a great many hearts and minds. God speed. |

I haven't been here on Pelican for a while, but I can say without checking that Grady was easily involved more than once in my last 20 threads. I've never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but never the less I consider him a friend for all that he's shared with me.
As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate that the value of life isn't in the things that you collect (dare I say that on a Porsche forum? ), or even in your accomplishments -- all of which fade with time. It's in the people that you touch and the impact that you make in their lives, and the things that you help them accomplish. These actions than live on through the people that you've touched and how they than do the same for others. In this regards Grady continues to be a champion. My prayers will be for Grady and those close to him during this difficult time.
