thanks porboy....... not sure why my mechanic left both these hoses off i guess the air filter hose is more or less not as functional as the mfi warm up hose but i will be ordering that as well.....

So what is the crankcase vent on the engine connected to then? And the oil tank vent pipes? Might pay to check everything against another 72 if you can find one nearby, they are a little unique in the plumbing arrangement but conceptually all the same.

Here's a pic of that hose. As mentioned above, a hose within a hose. Search for MFI pre heater hose. Pretty sure you need the 28x560 and the 34x550 (inner and outer). P/N 901 110-295-00-M58 and 296-00-M58.

ok guys update!!!!! i have ordered the correct inner and outer hoses and installed them and no luck!!!!!! urgh!! my mechanic back in boston tells me he may have wired the fuel lines incorrectly from the filter to the mfi pump...says this may be the problem and would cause vapor lock ?? can anyone send me a photo or info as to were these lines run to i would really appreciate it....... again car runs awesome first 15 mins then falls apart!!! new coils, new wires, new plugs.new fuel filter, new fuel pump, new pointless ignition system????????

There was an incorrect diagram published. I think Grady was usually the one who posted the corrected diagram that ran in Pano I think it was after the original mis-print.

Here is the correct schematic, but I suspect it would not run at all if it was wrongly plumbed.

You have the heated air hose now but you may still have an issue with the thermostatic operation. I have never had mine apart but I understand its a simple stack of bimetal discs. You could probably check its operation with a hair drier or paint stripper heat gun.

Stupid question, you added the new hose(s) in the pic, but is there a hose under the car connected to the heat exchanger or is it just a pipe sucking cold air?
I had a similar experience years ago, turned out to be the fuel line under the car were so old that when the car got hot, the lines were collapsing.

Ignition wire close to a ground.
Tank vent open?
Fuel tank strainer restricting fuel at high volume

rusty will check tank vent....not sure of any fuel restriction possible as the car will run at full rpm until at temp? its strange runs like a brand new car for 15 mins or so and than it just falls apart!!!!!!
