Some assembly required! When I order the COA it will tell me what the interior colors were. So far the seats and everything is blue but the sun visors are black so maybe something was dyed along the way? I like black interiors so I may go that route after she is running/driving.

Black sunvisors are standard regardless of the interior colour - blue leather with sports seats would have been a rare option back in the day. It looks to be a very well optioned car which will enhance its value in the long term - S trim, sports seats, leather etc. Interesting to also see what looks like a S tach based on that redline! The COA may have some pleasant surprises for you.

Cheers and good luck,
Mark

Definitely a lot of interesting bits there. The S bumper is steel?

Plenty of good advice rolling in. With something that's sat so long I think you're going to ultimately end up very close to, if not at the bottom of the slippery slope. All the brake and suspension components are going to benefit from attention. I guess you know that, but there was the implication in the first post that you wanted to drop a functional engine in there and go driving.

The lack of garage is going to be a serious hindrance once the car's in a thousand pieces, and I'd be incredibly nervous about leaving something of such value in sight. Even as it sits, a longhood could be a target. I'd think seriously about some kind of structure that would conceal it, even if it weren't all that secure. At least get your insurance updated pronto.

All that said, I wish you the best of luck. It will be an amazing learning experience, and you will have something of beauty and value once 'done'. (They're never done.)

Mike, I agree 100% getting estimates now to build a 24x24 attached garage.. I know I've got some sorting out to do before I drive.. I'm going to do the front pan/brakes/fuel lines and clean out the tank. Hopefully the news keeps getting better and better so that way I'm not in this thing more than it's worth. I'm pretty mechanically inclined (taking classes in college to become a certified mech) so I plan to do most of the work myself to cut costs as much as I can. I've seen on here a lot of this can be DIY, and I've got access to a wealth of knowledge via this forum and a shop here in town that restores older p-cars.

Quick, throw a portable tent/garage over your car and get that garage built.
Very nice start to what should be a great car you have there.

Thanks for the compliment on the car Timmy! We are gonna try to do most of the work ourselves to cut cost on the garage as well. I'm going to recruit some guys at work and we're gonna get it done. Looking to spend around 10k vs the 30k that was quoted to me from the CONtractor..

Started the teardown under the supervision of the Porsche "master." Surprisingly no broken bolts yet and didn't tear up anything. Found out that I had the old style tensioners so I believe an upgrade is in order at some point! Removed many dry rotted fuel lines and when the tins came off, it revealed a very, very dirty engine. Internals looked fine though, still had oil in the case.. We turned the engine on its side and put marvel mystery oil in one side so it can work the pistons free (the engine has been sitting in a shed for 26 years). Haven't really seen any signs of moisture damage so I am extremely relieved, just concerned still about the seizing issue but I heard that it's definitely not uncommon and we should get everything turning here in a few days.

Welcome!
That's a very original car, my 1970 911T was recently restored but it is far less original than yours. For me to get sport seats, door armrests and pockets as yours it would cost me close to $9.000.
I hope your engine will turn and no major work is needed.
Jose

Yeah, I guess it's beginner's luck? I just hope it stays with me.. The engine checks out and is mostly original... Still working on getting it broken down so we can do the rebuild. Tensioners are shot so I've got to replace them. Snowed in today so couldn't work on her. The Porsche "Master" who I'm working under is compiling a list of parts I'm going to need. Hopefully it doesn't "break the bank".

That sounds insane but I know you are right ! That being said.... he is looking at a nice bill as well to redo the interior, especially in those colors. Door pockets are there but the opening portion of them are trashed apparently, and if you put a new one the other 1/2 (the fixed pocket) it might not match anymore... those aren't cheap for a set... Blue door panel / seat material (if original and correct) will be rare and not cheap either... I once priced a seat redo at the recommended place, and got hot flashes for a week... Black is easier but you should wait to see what the COA says. The smart $ is stock specs right now. It'll be worth it in the end, no doubt (stock Ts can now reach 6 figures in very original trim) but it's going to take a serious $$$investment$$$ to get to a nice condition if you stay stock (which you should, but heck, it's your car). It's easy to spend $10K just in interior bits nowadays, another $10-15K in paint + rubber, let alone suspension pan, engine, mechanicals, or rust.... Good idea to build a garage - those things are relatively cheap to insure with a classic insurance but it needs to be locked up ;-)
