I'm closer to Annapolis. I just had it done last week. Took it to Cars&Coffee in Hunt Vally Saturday and to C&C In Annapolis today. It was funny, Porsche of Annapolis was hosting a display of their new cars. I parked a couple of rows over, they told me I had to come over and park in their display.

Thanks for the kind words guys, I know it's a polarizing kinda thing you either love it or hate it. To me, its just about having a little fun while I decide what I'm going to do with it.

Especially trying to grasp how a urethane bumper can rust.

You must have the oil leaks under control to be able to park the cars over those Oriental rugs....

I don't get it. The SC/Carrera looks interesting with the wrap but the new cars look terrible. Why spend money to make the car look bad? Is this one of those fads where some celebrity said this is cool so all the drones follow along?

I see it all the time at the Cars and Coffee here. A guy rolls in with a new McLaren P1, then next month he shows up with the P1 all wrapped. I guess what's $6000 in temporary when you have unlimited money. All these super car guys are the same. A white 918 one month is a matte black 918 the next month. Maybe they have an itch to scratch because they can't work on the mechanicals or something. Evidently a P1 or 918 or Hurican isn't exclusive or unique enough.

Regarding the OP's car, I like that better I guess, but it looks weird that this "rust bucket" has nice shiny chrome sugar scoops and all trim work intact. I'd leave the engine lid grille off, for example.

My guess is you'd have to know the owner to understand. Could be for promotional purposes, could be simply cause they don't have to show how awesome their car is with it being pristine, they may just have a great sense of humor/lack of giva-fuchs. Or maybe just to cheese the purists off.

One thing i do know, it's not about the $ ..........or is it.

I questioned that a couple of times at a C&C and both answers were the same. Want to have fun with the car but protect the paint for resale. I thinks 6 grand is a bit much.

>>After the car is carefully measured and the design laid out, it is printed in sections.

Who did this measuring, the car-wrap people? Do you have the data?

I'm considering a wrap or partial wrap to finish the repairs from where my car was hit.

Thanks

Wow I actually love it, then again I like things that are old, that look old, that have lived and have a story. I know its fake but it works well and much better than the before shot. As I have got older I understand less and less the 'oh no I have a rock chip on my fender and its the end of the world'. Mine has 500 rock chips, gets a polish once a year and a wipe over with a wet rag once a month, gotta love patine, real or fake if its done well

IMHO Patina is earned and that's easy to spot as a fake, but I can appreciate you did something different and it's your car so I can appreciate the effort and design behind it.

Magnus has a lot to answer for...every second word is "patina".

Yes, it's earned by parking a vehicle out in the elements for years on end, never taking a sponge to it, and not fixing body and paint problems as they arise - definitely something one doesn't have to work very hard at to accomplish.
