Introducing 1975 911S

Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself, and my 1975 911S.

My name is Bruce, and have wanted a 911 since the early 70's, I'm 63.

I have been involved in the Mercedes W126's and C126's for too long, 20 years plus.

I am a novice at best, and hope to enjoy, respect, and learn!

I know I will have MANY questions, I am hoping I can understand and implement the answers.

Here are a few pictures, since without pix's, it didn't happen! LOL
Thanks Bruce

Welcome Bruce! Very clean looking 75! Looks like someone dropped in a 70s 2.2 with MFI? (Edit Carbs -sorry, was just looking at the air intake) Looks like your stock motor, carbs and an earlier air intake.

Some other notes. Added passenger mirror. Incorrect cig lighter and painted or stickered over rear "PORSCHE" reflector.

Was it repainted guards red at some point? What's the original color?

What's the engine number and type stamped to the right of the fan? Those look like 7" cookies.

Great car and welcome!

Thanks Duane
I'm still doing some gathering on info(hind sight) but the engine number is

Engine number: 6451063

Supposed barn find, but 2 owners before me, making me 3rd owner.
There is an old respray, 10 years ago or so in Peru Red. It looks good, no signs of prior damage and or any rust. Lifelong California car.

Thanks
Bruce

Those are carbs, not Mfi. 75 is a great year. In CA you don't have to worry about smog rules.

Oops. Matt is right. Sorry was looking at the air cleaner, isn't that off a 2.2 with MFI? looks like your engine number is a 75 engine US 49 state. Not an original CA delivery. What's the exhaust look like?

Being a '75 and thus being exempt from the California smog police is a big plus. I had a 75 911 Targa with carbs, RS pistons, E cams, and an SSI exhaust. It was a sweet running car, but the Midwest tin worm finally caught up with it when the values were not as high. It however gave it's parts so other cars could live.

Enjoy it in good health!

Thanks All!

No real plans as of yet, other than clean the wheel wells, and as much of the chassis as I can get to.

It is pretty clean, yet doing the chassis and all, I'll get to do a good inspection.

So far, the underside is pretty clean and trama free, exclude the spots from the engine. I'm thinking that the small amount of oil leak is normal/acceptable?
Is it?
The motor was worked. This is not my verbage, but the sellers.

2.Re-ringed by B & L Machine
3.New connecting rods perfectly measured and matched by Einmalig

8. Front brakes
9.Entire clutch
10. Entire gas pedel assembly purchased and installed 4/29/16 by Mesa Performance, New cotter pinsi

Good list of work and shops. Often the red fan is a Motormeister indicator. You don't need to worry about that.
