Help with wiring Blaupunkt.
This is the back of a 1976 Munster - euro option from a Stuttgart dealership in 1976.
I sent the unit to Radioman for a rehab, installed it and got it working. Problem is that I don't have any lights - no dial backlight, no power indicator, no signal strength indication. Could the circled male spade terminal have anything to do with the lights? Radioman said it's not a ground - the unit is grounded to the chassis via the metal 'C' clamp on the fronk wall. Thanks, Bill K ![]()

Hello Bill,
I found an earlier thread where this is discussed; I'm sure our members will also chime in and help out. Best of luck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/851080-blaupunkt-wiring-fader-control.html |

Pretty sure that's a ground. I have a manual for a Blaupunkt CR 3001 and it shows a similar spade connector on the back of the radio and amplifier and it is a ground.

Maybe a bulbs burned out? To be clear, you hear the music, but are just missing lights?
![]() Are both of those posts near "+12V" connected to power? At first I thought one would be the antenna, but I suspect that's plugged into one of the round holes. The spade is connected to the chassis, and the chassis is ground. I suspect that spade is an "extra" ground. |

Bill,
Here is the back of a couple of units, not too different from yours except your unit is not stereo (you have only one connection for the speaker) You did circle the the ground spade in your photo, and depending upon your installation, the unit should be grounded directly with that connection. The unit may ground itself with the "c" clamp, but it may not be consistent. ![]() ![]() You see the "ant" spade next to the "12v +" spade. Be careful not to ground the "ant" spade to anything. That is used as a switched power source for a power antenna otherwise you run the risk of shorting out the unit.

That spade connector is a ground connector. If that spade connection had an insulator between the case and frame then it would not be a ground connection.

Thanks all.
I suspected it was a ground, as it was un-insulated. Radio (mono) works without it, but I'll wire up a ground just to be safe. I doubt that all three bulbs are burned out, but after being idle for 30 plus years, it's very possible. The shop said they worked when bench tested.(dial backlight, power indicator, and signal strength). Any suggestions as to improving FM reception? Thanks again, this board is amazing. Bill K

...and for those who have never seen, or heard of the Munster....
- cute - huh? Bill K Oh yeah, excuse my ignorance, but what's a '7 pin DIN connector adaptor', and the had those back in 1976? ![]() ![]()

The DIN connector is used to connect the tuner part of the radio to the amplifier portion. It can be wired so you can install a socket to wire in an auxiliary input (iPod, MP3, etc.) if desired. If you look carefully, you'll see small wires connecting the terminals in the plastic plug.
And definitely connect that ground lug in the back of your radio.

Got sorta the same radio for my RSR-ish backdate build. I dig the clean face on the radio. I am going to install mine with a Tranzit bluetooth adapter (via the DIN plug - I think- can't recall). Here is the radio and adapter. ![]()
