great job and nice color!

but, I never understand why body shops never mask off the engine and interior when prepping the body. it gets all dusty!!

I'd hate that cleaning afterwards if it was my car :fail:

Ha! Its insult to injury Flo.. Its ok, Bug bug was born to be dirty!

Crap! Upside-down pic..
The bug is assembled! Glass guy had a hiccup or 4 trying to install the windshield..
So he's bringing in an extra one, presumably in case he breaks the first.

Bugbug has a buddy! A 74 coupe, its no Targa, but its pretty clean.

The good part of the glass guys visit is that he got the rear seal on, (correctly too!) and it all looks good. This pic has the glass sitting on the tub.. I almost have a Targa!
To be continued.... Tomorrow.... I think.....

'Sup?

Looks awesome, but you know it's not "officially" a Targa until that rear glass is firmly affixed!

Yes,yes I agree! As mentioned glass guy had grief with the front glass.. Chinese windshield that was just wrong. He's back tomorrow with a PPG.
Pics to follow

Impressive!

Were you able to source a new rear glass seal or did you go with used?

After the original glass guys couldn't even begin to get the trim in the car.. I gave them the option to bail. You have never seen 3 guys faces light up with relief and run for their van as fast. Hilarious but obviously irritating as this cost me a week and a half.
Anyway... Today the guys that the local Porsche dealers use exclusively came out.
After much pushing, slapping and shoving....

I have a Targa!!!!!! Back glass is sealed up, trim is sweet.

Tickled to say the least! It can be done! I cant say I wasn't sweating it a bit, but all the measurements were good within 1mm and the top fit nice, but hey, until that back glass is in....Its no Targa! Really happy Here it is cleaned up..

BugBug is officially back to where he once belonged! The Rag That Should Not Be has been banished!

Next is the windshield.. We had some trouble with it, and ran out of time. It almost seems like the seal (OEM) sucks... looking for a Porsche one tomorrow. But! Targa bar trim and seals can go on in the morning.

Excellent! I'm sure I wasn't the only one with fingers crossed you would get it all set right.

Congratulations! I’m very happy that it all came together as that rear window install seemed very difficult.

Fully assembled! Top is tight, and snaps into place nice.

Home! A bit of rain but that's no surprise.

Snug like a bug in a rug.

Those euro h4s look a ton nicer than the scoops.
Now.... Interior and some other snacky treats over the coming rainy season.

Bravo!

My current Carrera is a low mileage, original paint, bone stock, mint example (like almost every 911 I've had).

But it will be my last one like that. I'd much rather have something like yours, way more fun!

The black coupe is sorta like that... Super stock minus wheels, factory color, low miles.. I don't mess with it! The Bug on the other hand.. Its more fun because I can do whatever I want!

My first try at installing carpet. A little wavy here and there but a massive improvement over what was there previously.
My inner Targa trim was hashed.. But the aluminum frame and padding was good! I wrapped it up in perlon for the time being. I like it actually.
All the trim pieces and rear inner quarters sourced from the classifieds ( As well as some nice visors )

Still looking for a drivers side pedal board so I can finish it up.

And the crummy old cards had to go.. These were breezy to install. Appbiz on all accounts. Good stuff
