The new front RSR bumper/valance looks 100% better than that black flush mounted front valence with the stock bumper. I’d never before seen one like that and for very good reason. The period correct sport seats compliment the rest of the build nicely. Look frwd to seeing pics when you have the f & r bumpers painted. You’ve done a nice job resurrecting the ole Targa!

Thanks, yes I would agree that old valance was less than great. It was on the car when I acquired it, so it was utilized. The seats just make me happy! Almost my favorite part haha! The bumpers will be painted soon I have a set of RUF style mirrors, but we will see if I use em or not. The Vitaloni mod looks like the next best thing. Its snowing again.. Ill have some time to ponder it.

Ordered and received some Vitalonis, thought id try em out. Even mounted to the flag base I do like how light these are in comparison to the flags.. I have some Ruf style mirrors that I bought from GT Racing that obviously I haven't used yet. These have the obvious advantage of not painting the whole door again but we'll see if these stay or not. They do actually provide a rear view :P I ordered the convex lensed ones.
If these stay I may even leave em black or not..

Soo... After a few runs with the turbo setup, I have developed a leaky head This isn't reaaaally a surprise, after all the engine isn't a spring chicken despite it running really well. Its ok, I always intended on getting a larger displacement engine, be it a 3L or 3.8! The turbo project was a good winter project. It worked like mad! The tickle of boost made a world of difference. I can imagine if I had fairly healthy 3L it would just rock! Engine has been dropped..

I'm going to sell the turbo setup, soup to nuts. Cat delete pipe back, with gauges. I have another engine enroute, that I wont be able to run this turbo setup on so I figured someone can have a crack at the "kit" and I will pick away at the 2.7 for another project.

An update on the Bug! A new engine, soon to be commissioned...

A DME harness is enroute, then its going up the BugBugs rear. Roger Sheridan made these cool "tins" for me, love the look. They fit mint as well. Its been too damn long since I have driven this car.
Hopefully installing end of next week.

Sounds killer! Pretty happy with it.

Time to paint these bumpers I installed 10 months ago!
As soon as it stops raining out there I am putting on some miles and killing some bugs.

Ha! Well, I have to say the big dispacement is terrific. I really only had the boosted setup for a very short time. The answer is a good running engine!

Yep, turbo setup is long gone... Easy enough to do again if I wanted to though

Drove the car today for about 3 hours, no grief! The power upgrade is really worth it. Pretty happy so far! Now maybe some big ol brakes...

The Hosoi's are repros made in the USA, totally faithful reproductions right down to the concave I'm trying to get back all the old decks I had as a kid, and all the ones I wanted but never got. Buy a Hosoi! I'm sure Christian gets some $$, hes a good guy.

Targas rule.......Some people hate them, but they are a weird Porsche/German anomaly and really unique. This was a fun thread to read and follow. Your car turned out fantastic.

So...
We have a new engine and exhaust(well a mostly new exhaust). So far, its been fantastic! Pulls like a mofo and zero issues The Vram is a good time
I used European racing headers(Georges headers) and welded on some vbands. I had them ceramic coated , it looks pretty good and keeps the ugliness of rust at bay. The muffler setup was my quiet(er) version on the two exhausts I built for the prior engine, and I built some transitions to mate up. After almost 2 years of disappointment, I can drive this car and its a blast! . Im a happy guy! Now I can move on to other things I had planned, like some big brakes and my heat exchangers for this exhaust. The BugBug lives!!
